Actually, this whole thing was just an inside joke between friends. Although you may laugh and say "hope he keeps his hard drive empty enough".. I have actually had some success with the thing, albeit not many apps come in.

  2. Not what copyright was for. on Copyright Claimed on Telephone Tones · · Score: 4, Interesting

I kind of doubt this is what the idea of copy righting was for. Copyrights along with patents were originally made to promote scientific research. Protecting one's intellectual property is the whole idea behind copy righting.

Some schmuck who starts to copy right tone sequences is totally not getting the point. He's not promoting scientific research, or protecting his intellectual property. He's just trying to make a quick $, through a loophole in the laws.

Its as if suddendly the sequence of phone digits has been invented by this guy and he has to have the copy right to your tone. This whole thing is as rediculous as the guy who claimed to own all the land outside of the solar system, and thinks he's somehow going to get away with that. If your armies/people are using/conquered something, its theirs, and no one elses.

Your aboslutely right. The internet is a highway with a billion onramps and no offramps where traffic doesn't always know where its going but keeps getting closer and closer until it hits the money. So what's the point of spending time and effort mapping the project? It seems unfeasible, useless, and ultimatley a waste of time. Sure it might help someone find something, but to categorize, store, and map the internet out to the point it would become something like mapquest seems silly, and quite frankly stupid

  4. I OWN Drexel.WS on How Many Domains Does Your School Own? · · Score: 1

You know, I've been a Drexel student for 5 years. I've just graduated now, and let me tell you how disgusted I am with the topic of corporate/academic big guys coming in an buying up all the sites close to their domain name.

I've owned Drexel.WS since this whole thing started. I bought it just to :P to Drexel for their terribly immature attitude. This is a total WASTE of time and money that I paid to go there, shows a disrespect of Drexel University towards its students, and makes Drexel look foolish. Like anyone is going to buy "DrexelUniversitySucks.com" and start a flame site. Who cares if they did? Drexel can't possibly censor the world.

Heck, I can put some flame stuff up on Drexel.WS in minutes.. but that doesnt mean that I am going to.

Perhaps if Drexel is so worried about this happening, they should focus their money and time on providing good education instead of balling out people who speak out against them.

So basically you think running linux on a mac is a waste of time? Think not. I and hundreds of programmers who actually use stuff called "LinuxPPC" and develop for it are putting our macs to good use. I have an old mac power pc 7600 and I've just turned it into a linux box so it can do mail serving.. seems like a pretty good use for a machine that would have been thrown out. You aren't thinking with an open mind, there's tons of people out there, probably just like me who say "Thank you!" to the people who develop the open source community for the mac.
