    Having a unique ID number which is accessible to anyone permits cross-correlating databases and other methods of mining data and constructing profiles of people. Also, if there was a bar code or similar machine-readable encoding of the number

    Mhmm. But somebody could lose their card or it could be stolen. Instead, they should stamp that bar code on everybody's forehead! Everybody, write your congressmen and have them propose forehead barcode stamping. (To minion: Lets go over that list again. Big war in the middle east , barcodes on everybody's forehead , .. ok, now what..)

    Come on. When was the last time anybody used "Oldest First (Ignore Threads)"? You know what we really need is "Funniest First"!

    `lynx -dump | grep -A 10 -e "Funny"` just doesn't cut it... at least maybe slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=newest would make it easier... hey, I know I'm not the only one out there ;)

    indeed, we should take advantage of this great resource quickly, before they they discover an Adobe eBook reader starting at the 4 trillion and first digit!
