are on opposite ends of the electromagnetic spectrum. well opposite ends of the spectrum we actually use. The Microwave "cameras" you are thinking of are most likely the millimeter wave, synthetic aperture radar satellites. these are used to augment visible light satellites, because they can image through clouds and at night. they cannot see through walls. They have a much poorer resolution than visible light imaging, because microwaves are a much longer wavelength. The maximum theoretical resolution, i think, is about 1 metre (vs. ~10 cm for the big visible light cameras)and in practice is probably worse. X-Rays would be useless for satellite photography, because the atmosphere absorbs them almost completely. Longer wavelenghts are used to see through obstacles like trees, but their resolution is worse ( longer wavelenth = poorer resolution).
The NSA may be exempt from many laws, but the laws of physics are not among them.
Yeah, but a federal judge has already ruled that "You've Got Mail" is not a protected trademark. Of course, AOL is probably appealing this ruling, so they have to keep up appearances. ^..^ ( @ ) ^..^
It says this here card can only do 15 million triangles per second. Playstation 2 can do 75 million. I don't think this is gonna put Playstation2 out of business.
Customs agents in airports can take your tickets and any cash you're carrying if they suspect you are going to use it to buy drugs. They don't have to charge you, question you, or explain anything to you, and they don't have to give it back. sounds like the Government is becoming as paranoid about computers as they are about drugs. ^..^ ( @ )
an encrypted hard drive might attract their attention and get them to look at it faster. then they get a subpoena for your key, and you end up sitting in jail until you're ready to cough it up, and then, even when they don't find anything, they charge you with destroying evidence because they found some deleted files they couldn't recover, and some judge has already issued an order barring you from ever being in the same room with a computer for the rest of your life. ^..^ ( @ )
The government that was instated in 1776 was there to insure that the white, male, land owning aristocracy would retain their own liberty as well as control of the government. Ordinary citizens were considered too stupid to vote or be given any responsibility in governement.
If you are really convinced this is true, try this for fun. Withdraw $5000 from the bank and put it in a suitcase. Go to Dallas and buy a round trip ticket to anywhere in Mexico. Pay cash. Make sure the return date is the same as the departure date. See how long it takes before the customs agents at the airport confiscate your ticket and $5000, send you on your way and you never hear from them again. No crime committed, no charges filed, no hearing and no trial.
Seems to me this law is just insurance that such a search cannot be excluded at trial. Current laws allow surrepetitious entry to plant microphones and cameras, and those warrants are upheld at trial, most likely a warrant to plant sniffer software would be upheld too. they just don't want it to be decided by a judge. ^..^ ( @ )

Digital cable from Adelphia in Buffalo is terrible. $45 a month for basic package, bad artifacting (maked VCDs look good), most channels are still analog, and the box is sloooowww. DBS is a much, much better deal.
