Looking back, this has been one of the best weeks in my life, at least from the perspective of my life experiences in business.
During the FCC February 2004 Meeting, while agenda item #4, the FWD Petition was being granted, I gave up counting how many times the name "Pulver" was mentioned in the proceeding.
After thinking about this, I believe we witnessed the transition where my name became an object noun which will be associated with the petition that I filed on behalf of Free World Dialup on February 5, 2003.

An interesting editorial regarding this CNET story run yesterday on Voxilla.com.
Being one of the people singled out in the story the good news is that since the story ran, I spoke with Janus and Free World Dialup will be working with the Skype team in interconnecting our respective networks.
What concerns me more than this story is that last Friday it was first reported that Wisconsin joined the growing list of US States that is taking action against VoIP.
Once you have a Free World Dialup account, you can dial your friends who have a SIPphone account, by dialing **747 followed by the SIPphone number. You can also dial people on other SIP networks.
FWD now also supports the ability to place "toll-free" calls into the US, UK and the Netherlands. more Details are availalbe: here.
At the moment there are approx. 44,000 FWD subscribers in 150+ countries.
While the FCC is considering our petition, we all have a much more immediate problem, the National Association of Regulatory Utility CommissionersNARUC and their 2003 Winter Meetings taking place Feb 22-26. NARUC already has a strong anti-VOIP resolution (word document) set to go through next Sunday. If this get passed it will create an unnecessary tax and crippling administrative burden on the intenet. This makes our much more immediate problem - the NARUC Telecommunication Committee
If their draft passes, it will mark a dark day for IP Communications in the United States.
Please take a look at the people registered for this meeting and reach out to them and let them know that VoIP should not be regulated in the United States.
Free World Dialup III is launching on March 9th.
I'm looking for 20+ additional nodes. Those who qualify will be given for free a single port
Komodo gateway. Details regarding FWD Node
requirements are at:
http://www.pulver.com/fwd/fwdIIIsrv.html
Feel free to visit
pulver.com for background information on the
primary supporter for this 'project'.
The first 20 node applications which meet our
criteria will be given configured Nodes for
free. (Including free shipping anywhere in
the world.).
Regards to all,
Jeff Pulver jeff@pulver.com
Just read your Manifesto and I agree.
End - to - End - IP is the fear of most established operators...it is just that
some have not realized it yet.
Hope to choose to run a FWD node and join
the revolution.

Free World Dialup is real.
You can check us out from what was done back in
1995-96 and again during 1997-99.
The "box" is a commerical Cisco Komodo single
port gateway which if you already have one, there
is no need to purchase another one. Depending
upon the broadband connectivity, you may run into
NAT problems. We found a workaround using a
Linksys 4 port hub.
The service is free and there is no charge to
connect. As long as you have the right equipment,
you will be able to connect.
We need broadband connectivity so that we
are able to run G.711 which makes those calls
sound as good (if not better than) the PSTN.
You will be able to make local phone calls
which take advantage of the local dialing plans
that each node is connected to.
We will be in 50 cities when the launch on
March 9th. This means that the 51st node will
be able to place calls into at least 50
locations.
In addition, we will support node-to-node dialing
afterwards.
We will also support other SIP Based user agents
in the future which will open up FWD to many others, including those with softphones.

Hopefully the FCC will fast track this petition.
For those who remember The ACTA Petition, I do hope that this is something that the FCC does decide to rule on.

the AC, We will be deploying an ENUM server after we launch.
This is true. We are currently screening the applications for FWD operators.
