The hardest part of a new layout is all the little characters you don't use often in regular typing. If I were a writer, switching back and forth would be a simple matter but as a programmer, Dvorak really slowed me down finding semicolins and square brackets without looking. Since these things are a major part of every program I would think you'd loose a lot of productivity with a switch.
OMG THIS ARTICAL IS TEH FUNNI I DONT THINK IT IS TRUE BUT MEBE U DO??? A/S/L ARE YOU HOT? PLZ DONT F1AME ME THNX
And now some filler to get past the filters.
I think there is a certain amount of illiteracy that is spread through the internet. Obviously it's not universal, but there are pockets where language seems to devolve and this is reflected in academics. I know people who sit around and read howstuffworks.com and I know people who sit around and spank the monkey. I don't think the internet caused either one to be as they are, but the internet facilitates it.
The stolen trash analogy doesn't hold up. This is more like going down the neighborhood and picking up all the plastic bags left out for Salvation Army, DAV etc. and putting it all on your porch. It's not stealing, but it's still pretty skeezy.
Here here! Google's "do no evil" mantra is really not getting the respect it deserves. Between the gmail FS and attempting to break this copy protection which aims to give people information for free... I don't know why they don't just give up and use that monopoly they hold over the search business. And that wouldn't be the worst part, it's young impressionable people like me who start to wonder if it's worth following their role model when so many greedy slashdotters want to exploit their every move.
I have no bias because I never owned a game console except for an atari when I was about 6. I work at a Target so I get to see all three and talk to customers about how they feel. X Box is the worst customer reaction. I don't know if it is overheating but a lot of them have just frozen up (power gone for no reason), causing the customer to have to send the box back to microsoft after sitting on the Microsoft customer service line for in one case, 2 hours. The freezing of the box made them loose the game because they can't open it without power unless they risk damaging it by prying it open thus voiding any warrente. Its not easy to get the game back once you ship it to Microsoft to fix. Playstation had some problems too when it first came out but people are generally more happy with that and Game cube has few complaints.
I'll be the first to admit that Mac made mistakes. Probably more than Microsoft as far as marketing and pricing is concerned. But I have yet to find any major mistakes with their new OS. I've been using it for four months now and it quite litterally hasn't crashed yet. My room mate has the supposedly 'unbreakable' XP and it is far from that. It crashes as much as old mac OS 9 did and lets just say that was one of Macintosh's mistakes.
History repeats itself and our past predicts this grim desolation. Monstrous governments oppress the people into their ways. They crush all creative thought by forcing people to strive to survive. Why should they need to think anyway? The government provides them with perfectly wonderful conditions. You couldn't make it better by trying so why try? Artwork dies and shades of gray mask the landscape. People don't notice because they pay large sums of maintenance fees. The maintenance fees pay the upkeep of spies that brutally barge in on your private establishments and check for unlawful material.
The Tyranny lays siege and what can anyone do about it? Traitors to the crown must die. Its common knowledge so why don't the people feel threatened? Is it because they believe the social classes they live in are stable and as long as they can suffer through the next tax period they will prosper? Do they really think the suffocating weight on their chest will be removed if they can make it financially for one more year? Do they not know that the next year will be even harder because the King will have set his eyes on some new grail and your pockets are his personal war treasuries? The people know. They just hope that by selling their soul early they will find favor under the eyes of their master.
We have seen this motif throughout history so prominently that it transfers to our literature. Books that scientifically theorize the future of mankind depict humans ruled by an all-powerful oppressor. One who cannot be pinned down because it is not simply one person guiding or crushing the masses. It's industry and corporation. On October 1st, Bill Gates will demand from you your first tax payment. Will you pay?
