  1. Discrimination! on Quake II In Full Motion Stereogram 3D Engine · · Score: 5, Funny

I can't play it because I only have one eye!

Actually tried to use this excuse (along with proving it by tapping my proshtetic eye really hard with a fingernail) to get into a 3d ride (the kind with the glasses) for half price. Never worked though.

  2. Easy Travel on NYT: The New Breed of Gaming Laptops Get Serious · · Score: 1

Me and my boyfriend live 7 1/2hrs apart, so we only get to see eachother on vacations. He's looking into buying a laptop thats fully capable of playing games on for when he visits me since we like to DM in UT2k3 and other games when he visits. A laptop would just be a lot easier to transport over this long of distance.

  3. A knee-jerk reaction if I ever saw one on In Stores Soon: Perishable DVDs · · Score: 1

They aren't implimenting this on DVD's they're selling, or even allowing you to rent (yet). Its PROMOTIONAL DVD's packaged with CDs! You aren't paying for them at all, in fact its a kind of 'value-added' scheme, giving you an incitive to buy the CD packaged so you can see the promotional DVD, insteading of just downloading the CD. Rentable versions is an IDEA, not a fact. Other than the unsightly enviromental impact of several thousand of the little coasters after their 8hr life is up, it seems like a decent idea. At least give them a chance before you start shouting.

  5. Room of Doom... and overcrowdedness on How Looks Your Geekroom? · · Score: 1

My room is essentialy divided into 3 parts..

    Office
Big corner desk with a hutch on it. Nushi, 900mhz Thunderbird homebrew PC with a 15" Viewsonic VPA150 (no longer made) monitor and the ever cool Logitech Mouseman Wheel Optical with the lil blue LED logo ^_^, sitting in the corner part with the case its self under the desk, beside the monitor is my Belkin 4port router..; Tiffie, 733mhz G4 (Quicksilver) with a 17" Apple Studio Display (the lovely LCD ^_^) with a Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, beside it with the case under the other part of the desk (to the left) Beside that on the end of the left side of the desk is my oldskool PPort scanner, a Mustek A3 EP (11.7"x17"). On the other side is a load of cds and papers and bawls bottles, with a Polaroid PDC 700 digicam lurking in the clutter... Under the desk, besides the 2 computers, are nicely tied up and organized cords, and a zip drive... cause it doesnt fit anywhere else -_-. On a bookcase beside the desk (kinda making it a U shape) is my HP Deskjet 940C. also on the bookcase is lots of printer paper, cds, non-computer-related crap..Sitting on the hutch is more of the same..action figures, etc. Not to mention my cool leather office chair and blue rollymat ;p The opposite wall to this has anime wallscrolls, a vanity and a glass shelved thing, that has my Bamboo plant on it ^_^

    Art Studio?
A glass shelved large metal case faces it, theres a drafting table with a magnifying swing-arm fluorescent lamp, and all my jewelry making and drawing goddies on the shelves. The closet also faces this part and kinda spews into this area a bit ;p also a trashcan right beside the table for easy access. The bathroom also faces this, and has a beaded curtain ^_^My drafting stool and clear rollymat finish it up ;p

    Bed
The waterbed is walled off in a corner by a metal and cloth screen behind the bookshelf of the office area, and the glass and metal shelves of the art area, and it hides very well ;p got a small metal nightstand with a lamp on it and the omnipresent bottle of water.

    Etc..
Throw in various small shelf units with trinkets, and loads of vanilla candles of different shapes/sizes everywhere, and you're set.

  6. Re:logitech is blue... on "Red is Dead" Optical Mice LED Change · · Score: 1

I assume you mean the Mouseman Wheel Optical. Its a shame they don't make them anymore (and you still pay full price if you buy from a retail store!) because its a great mouse. I wanted to get another for my new computer and had to settle for the uglier Intellimouse Explorer

  7. Re:Why do we have to save our work by hand? on When Good Interfaces Go Crufty · · Score: 1

Quark lets you set a backup folder and have the program save backup copies into that folder according to a time interval that you set. Maybe all programs should impliment that.

  9. Re:Decouple from the hype train. on The Creation of "Fan" Sites · · Score: 2

Althought I agree with you that people need to be more original, the fan domain has its own air of creativity. Like those that write fan fiction who's only tie to its related domain is the fact it may take place in the same "Universe". Like writing a story about your own mutant character in the X-Men universe (except S-I which are usually god-awful) or a story about a common person in a superhero universe and how they react to events around them (A La TCP).
