While no one likes the idea of restricting speech, at least they are not outright banning it like in Afghanistan (hope I didn't screw up the spelling on that too much). Give the Chinese some credit...
Sure, I may not be added to the 30% of accidents which are caused by falling asleep behind the wheel. Instead I'll be added to the 70% of accidents caused by drivers being distracted and not paying attention to what's on the road.
I can see it now, people driving down the road talking to this thing and someone on their cell phone...
Of course, even though I question it's usefulness, the tech is cool though:-)
Indeed. It's easy to do the things we're pretty sure will work. Chances our we will suceed, but nothing will really be learned. It's only when we do things we're not positive about do we learn.
I'm paraphrasing, but I'm reminded of JFK's quote:
We do this not because it is easy, but because it is hard.
If the press notices at all, I'm sure we'll get to hear how much money was "wasted" on this failure. I wish people would accept that failures are part of learning. This is true of all aspects of human life. As long as they find and correct, and learn from, the problem, then nothing was wasted.
If you are sending mail from another domain, then simply use the SMTP server provided by that service. For example, my parents have verizon DSL. My mother has a yahoo e-mail address. She got this same e-mail, because she was using one of Verizon's smtp servers to send mail. I simply changed the config to send outgoing mail you yahoo's smtp servers. Problem solved.
Now, if Verizon were like some other services (Earthlink) and didn't let you send outgoing mail unless through their smtp servers, and THEN implemented this, I would be angry. But really this isn't a problem.
Cowboy Neal must have expanded the Lameness Filter to work on the front page...
j/k, of course. I'm sure the bugs will be worked out soon.

(something close to that).
I wish more people would adopt that attitude.

So let me get this straight. Music and source code should be free, but everyone should own exclusive rights to their usenet posts. Riiight...
