Believe it or not, civilians can walk right into any Military Surplus store (most are actual Army or Navy surplus here in California) and buy them for ~$50-$80 a case of 12 or roughly ~$7 each.
I will concur though that a lot of those seen on the Internet (Amazon for example) are simply civilian knock-offs.

If you include the pre-existing foods in freezers (which will stay for 48-hours), foods in the fridge (which will stay for 24-hours) and foods in the cupboard (which will stay for months) one can easily survive comfortably for two weeks or more.
Okay troll... Obviously you didn't think about the pre-existing food in the freezer and fridge... In total, that gives me about a week. If I need anything more, which is unlikely, I'll go hunting! Something most people, including yourself included couldn't conceive of doing.
I refuse to use Alcohol based products... they are horrible at heating food and Alcohol in the USA is completely unregulated, which means it may have a toxicity level that one would rather not want to worry about.

While I have invested some time and money into a preparedness kit, I do not feel adding Li-On batteries for flashlights and radio are as beneficial as just having something with solar or generation capable abilities.

1 Case of 36 water bottles (changed out annually) 1 Box of water purification tablets 16 Freeze Dried "MRE" foods (20yr shelf life) 1 Coleman propane stove 2M HAM Radio + spare Li-Ion Battery & Solar Charger for talking with family AM/FM 2xAA Battery radio + Solar AA Charger 2 Flashlights w/ AA Rechargeable Batteries
The problem I have is that IE11+ is such a PITA and it is difficult to get working with various Enterprise Java applications without disabling Protected Mode and completely unsecuring it or setting custom registry keys/policies. EMC Unisphere, various Cisco apps like UCSM and Fabric Manager... Even several recent Oracle tools just gag on IE11+ without spending hours configuring it to work every time you launch it.
If you look up the properties of Formic Acid on any Chemistry site and review its compounds and decomposition state you'll see that it dissipates, breaks down, decomposes into Carbon Dioxide and Water.

The viscosity caused by those fuels are not meant to be handled by most engines for any long duration, period. Anyone running >10% blend over long periods is asking for trouble. If you do not believe me, go run some 50/50 "WMO" mix for 10k miles and check how many of your injectors are clogged, gaskets ruined and seals leaking. Engines in todays vehicles are still not ready to handle it.
Go ask any mechanic who deals with vehicles that run on Biofuels such as BioDiesel, Green diesel, Bioethanol or >10% blends and you will find that they often clog up the injectors so badly that they need to be replaced (injector) 45% more frequently (adjusted % based on time injector was installed and comparing same brand part durability on the same vehicle until breakage).
That may not seem like much to some, but for those running public transportation and school buses, the political "go green" machine ends up including a hefty maintenance charge, metal waste and labor... All this atop of added air pollutions.
The game is being produced by the same group that put out the failed Civilization V ala Lena Brenk, Dennis Shirk and Lisa Miller. They can pay off all the game reviewers they want, but the simple fact remains that Civilization V sucked when it came out. It might as well have been an expanded version of Civilization Revolution!
For me an countless others out there @ CivFanatics, I am heartbroken that this series has lost its way and any games they have put out since Civilization IV lack any merit as they play like garbage.
I truly hope Sidney Meier actually puts his foot down and ensures this game is done right without the constant pressures from the asshats @ 2K Games & Take-Two shits, but I highly doubt it considering the current industry trend of releasing unfinished games and then gouging their supporters by forcing them to buy DLC and fixes.
After being bitten by Firaxis on my CivV pre-order, insisting Valve shutdown of my Steam account to ensure I could prove I never played it and then threatening litigation with Firaxis for false claims on a product I wanted a refund for (which I got from them); I have serious doubts about anything they put out.
All they need to do is remake Alpha Centauri like MS is doing Age of Mythology and I think a majority of people will be happy. Anything to the contrary and I'll pirate it just so I can continue giving the bird to EA/Firaxis.

Humanity seems to believe that "time" exists in a relative manner to itself and thus time is inherently flawed at any level objective analysis of events throughout the existence of the Universe. When we look at what we know to have happened, we want to draw some conclusion relating to what caused it. The Big Bang in this example appears to have happened and we ask why? This is where our interpretation of time, which in turn can relate to "nothing" becomes skewed. If we avoid self-destruction, if we avoid the explosion of our planet by natural forces, if we thrive beyond the limits of our solar system before time runs out we may one day change our views of time and nothing... Until then, it is relatively impossible to draw any real conclusion other than to assume that the Universe always has been and always will be... in some form or another.

My MRE's are from official Army Surplus, as are several of my items, but I couldn't find any online to use for reference on a short search.
The simple remedy here is to go to any number of REAL surplus stores and buy the 12-packs.
