why on earth should airline seats be intangible? last time I sat in one it wasn't. I further imagine that the seats not get lost too often and therefore do not need to be tracked..... This whole idea is just nonsense...
I cannot remember when I read it here at/. but I recall a statement by CmdrTaco that he sometimes intentionally posts a dupe on weekends to get information about user habits.

> Alas, none of those have good web integration. She needs RealPlayer for listening to online radio stations and watching movie trailers. And I think Flash is just kinda required to see the whole net nowadays.
well I dont use knoppix right now (tried it once and was enthralled) but with my debian woody I use all this: realplay-plugin in my galeon, flash 5... Flash 6 and quicktime-plugins via the crossover-plugin which has annoying adverts for bying the full version, but it works.
this should all work with knoppix, too, as its debian-based.
It is quite usual at a german universtity (at least in the natural sciences) that the teachers have (LaTeXed) material to their lectures which is put on the net and often equivalent to textbooks (but have the advantage of beeing exactly the same stuff as done in th lectures).
hmmm... I am not quite sure what to think of this (and other distros based on other ones). On the one hand: sure if they have some good idea to improve and want to make money out of it, why not. On the other Hand: the improvement has to be real worth it!! Otherwise people (like me, too) will stick to the original.
sorry for maybe disappointing you, but I don't think that this is/.-reader specific. probably more than half half of all children who have el. in their home have made some "experience" with it.
and meeting many new people at the same time makes it hard to remember names, esp. when you have a good topic to talk about, which obviously was the case:-)
agreed about he first point, but "newbie-friendliness" is also offering a good standard setup from the beginning so that you _can_ cope with complexity but need not. I like to have choices, but I like to to have the choice, not to make decisions (esp. about trivialities), at least sometimes, too.
Would a big "reset-to-default-desktop"-button help?:-)

I just like to add that the magazine "FOCUS" does not have the best reputation about the correctness of the things they claim to know :-)
The building "Reichstag" in Berlin has actually no Nazi-connection (they burned it iirc), that is why it can be used as the German parlament nowadays.

Knoppix boots into text-mode by typing "knoppix 2" at the boot prompt
