I think what all Wolfram did was stumble onto Taoism. You can say anything you want on this subject but its the only philosophy or religion that can account for both Newtonian and Quantum physics, as well as the type of systems that Wolfram noticed. All this thousands of years ago without benefit of higher math or computers, just meditation and the scientific method. Just goes to show that no matter what you say do or think all of reality is inside your own skull.

For people who missed it the one being the Tao, the two being yin and yang or a binary system, the three being simple rules and 10,000 is just old Chinese for an infinite amount. So Wolfram is right on but not breaking any ground and could have gotten the same results by meditating for ten years facing a wall. I just like to plug the Tao again for a second by pointing out that its the only religion/philosophy that also covers quantum uncertainty and particle physics. They also covered the raw food diet, the Atkins diet and just about every other aspect of science and health.
Halo is not awesome it is very very good. To be awesome it should inspire awe for the whole game. It inspires awe for the first half and then inspires mediocrity for the second half as you move backwards through the same levels with minor alterations.
Halo might have been awesome if they had just ported the level designs form Marathon over to the new engine.;)

The counter example might be Morrowind with the expension packs. There improvemnet adds to the next experience as well. Its not like you get to keep all your weapons from Quake 2 to Quake 3.
So do we want to make games that really make games better players? I look at the videos of Doom3 and HL2 and I have to belive that HL2 will make better players and Doom3 will just make me a twitchy mess.

In Qubec they do use Aerogel windows that are layered glass and Aerogel. A single pane window is as good an insulator as a moden three pane getup. Why only in Qubec? Qubec hydro makes a lot of money and every watt they save to export to the US is another dollar.
The only problem with Areogel is that is really expensive.
One solution is Seagel or Safe Emulsion Agar-gel. You get old fashion agar (the stuff that flows off the teeth of the Aliens.) The resulting foam is about.16 as good an insulator as Aerogel but it is basically free. I guess it's also edible. This might be a better option for insulating your house, although you might have to dope it with some preservatives.
In addition the level design was repetitive as hell. What they should really do is re-release Marathon on the Halo engine. It also might be a nice FU from the Macintosh core at Bungie to their new M$ Masters. I always loved the mad AI humor of Marathon.
I was also disappointed that they didn't offer dual pistols in Halo, they coppied all the other weapons form Marathon didn't they?

You make your system the biggest pain in the ass possible. e.g. The English Language, the "Standard" system of measurement, the stupid MM/DD/YYYY system for dates. This way EVERYONE ELSE is made to work twice as hard to understand us; you have to spend a great deal of effort just trying to figure out WTF is going on. We generalize this system out to our treaties as well. Notice we haven't signed onto the international court, the land mine treaty, or the child labor treaty? Why? Because we are the last superpower and as such will not allow ourselves to come under any form of international jurisdiction. It's a little more high brow than the date and measures thing but its still the same philosophy.

I use a swiftech MCX4xx (can't remeber which one but its big and copper and gots lots of al-u-minium in it) then I have a 80m to 120mm adapter mounted n a YSTECH 130 cfm fan (the neighbothood kids call it "the finger chopper." This is a kick ass aircooling solution. Might be the best. Cost ~$70
I once went to the house of the man who managed to change the dyes in clothing so that they were the same under incandescent and florescent lights. It was a nice house but a wonderful garden. He has set all the plants in his garden to bloom in time through out the year to create pleasing color gradients and contrasts. They guy who bought the house loved it but was no developing a bit of a back problem from the increased gardening.
