who cares it is for his PHD most of the stuff that comes from those people is usless because it must be unique work. do you have any idea how difficult it is to come-up with an idea that noone has published? very hard. so to over come this you get people getting into deep analisys of the corolation and effects that nixons dog had on his dicision to open up relations with china and other such rediculouse things.
so just let the guy go on with his project to get his degree so he may join the rest of the over qualified people in the world....ok.
I am sure those marshes were not worse than those found in nam, and the SEALS kicked ass in nam....the VC and NVA were teriffied of them, is a SEAL group was in the area the NVA knew that they were dead.
hey stupid.....if embeded computing is the way of the future then it will be a major blow to M$ cause they would not have a share in the market that will drive profits for software companies in the future.
well in the socio-political realm there is because marx disregarded the fact of human nature when he came up with his theory....absolute power corupts absolutly. this is why you never see a move from the dictatorship of the proletariot to true communism because if you had total control over a society would you want to give it up?
I don't think so.
however, on paper in a perfect world where everyone is nice and friendly and looks out for what is best for the community befor themselfs, then communism is a good thing, until we reach utopia though it is bad and opressive.
well...in theory Communism works, unfortunatly when you reach the dictatorship of the proletariot you run into a nasty thing called human nature. I mean how would you expect a person to take complete control over a society to guide it to the true communist dream and when it is reached, just step down and let society go about its merry way?
well it seems to me that having one copy for home (ie personal use) and putting it on multiple machiens is a consumers right under copyright law in the terms of fair use.
I am not out to make a profit, I am not a company, all I want to do is play games on my computer and write papers to my congressman.
I see this as a move to further weaken the fair use laws that exist.
I guess you haven't read up on how opressive and evil XP is. Do I want to enter a new key code when I change my hardware? is it any of M$'s buissness if I change my hardware? oh and have you read the story posted earlier about how reading E-Mail is dangerous thanks to M$IE?
hmmm yep your right M$ must have the consumers best intrests in mind. (for all you moderators that cant tell sarchasm...that was it).
Im sure that you can boot them but as far as use them....unless there is software for Linux then we are out of luck. but.....mabye Linus will use his knowledge of the system to gain a unique perspective and write the software or atleast be invoved in it's development.
No its not. the DMCA does make it illegal to circumvent Access control and copy protection however it also says that it shall not be used to restrict fair use. one of the terms of fair use as spelled out in copyright law says that you may ignore (to a certain extent) the copyright if the material is used for educational purposes. how much more educational could you get? a class at MIT that examins how to circumvent CSS?
if you consider that only 100 million people voted in the last election I am sure you can see that there is a majority of people from a political point of view.
if you look at it as a polster you could find that only 15%(fictional example) of the voting public use napster an therefore the law is good.
mabye in the next censis that will bea question on the long form:
-do you think that copyright laws are fair to both the consumer public and the recording industry? oYES oNO
to bad for all thoughs who want to bring law suits against the recording industry. Do you think that a federal judge will support the plaintif if the copyright laws support the defendant? I don't think so!
The unfortunate thing is that we have no right to make a copy onto CD. do a goole search on Fair use and you will see the same thing I did, Tape is the only media alowed.
I think that this should be amendid though considering CDs are such a versitile media.

oh and hey man good luck on the project.
sounds to me as if you have a 5600 rpm hard drive running off a DMA 66 controller.
:)
disk access is the slowest part of the computer so if you want fast access get a 10000 RPM SCSI hard drive

let me add though...
in the non-socio-political world of operating systems it is a good thing.

thank-you for your time
Noooo..........
Why god....Why!!!!!?
-sniff- -sniff-
He was so young...what a tragedy
I guess that one good thing about microsoft's implicit strongarm abilities is that we will now see a slew of cool firewire devices :)

I am so excited!!
Thank-you Ian!
I thought that mac can support a 2 button mouse now. I see them selling them at copusa in the mac section.

Guess what it is reversed in Linux, the odds are the experimental and the evens are the stable. then the last number is the patch level.
:)
:)
hmmm I hope that this kernel has a quick patch cycle so we can move on to 2.6
and oh glory be when it matures in a 3.0
I feel as giddy as a school girl...hehe

um...just so you know....Open source is an Ideology and not a buissness model. therefore if everything was open source you could not have a monoploy.
Are you For real?!?!?!
How old are you?
FOX News just had a story about the "All your base are belong to us" web site!!!!!
We are famouse!!!!
I guess that is what happens when you have a corrupt judge....he or she ends up legislating from the bench :(

I was reading the copyright code....of course if a court has ruled that other media is viable under the copyright code then that fixes that.
