80's bands are good -- esp. Siouxsie and the Banshees (which I can code to for hours!!!), and I have a huge collection of 80s too!
Recently, though, I've also been going for the NIN, RHCP, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Beck, Pearl Jam, Violent Femmes, Bjork, Metallica, and some of those Goth bands mentioned above.
My most recent 80s prize-acquisition is 99 Luftballons (yes, the German version. Being American, I've had the English version for quite some time.) And it hasn't taken me long to learn German enough to being able to sing along with it either! (Only when I'm coding at home of course. *grin*.)
Of course innovation and price slashes always make going after the latest technologies at the lowest possibly price a little challenging....but hey. I'll take a good deal any day!
Good idea, and you're right; by the third/fourth year, those that are still in the program are more likely to stick with it. It's what they've decided to do after the 'major-hopping.'
As a 'major-hopper' from journalism to TCOM to CS, I speak from experience.;)
I too am a 'hot chick...er...woman in computer science.':) Now that I'm making money, I'm not doing too poorly on paying off the high debts, but a little help along the way couldn't have hurt.;) (I could have a REALLY nice computer setup here in my aptmt by now with that little extra. Haha!)
(BTW, my homepage won't be there at Geocities for much longer. I won't support a philosophy in which I do not believe.)
I'm not a man. I'm a young, intelligent woman that enjoyed winding down a long, rough day of coding with a fun episode of Seinfeld.
All good things come to an end. I know that. I won't ask forgiveness for, nor apologize for having the skills to imagine how funny an episode on that could be. The idea of a lot of caffeine reminded me of Kramer. That's all.:)

Oh boy....I could see Kramer having a fun time with this one!
What a shame...
Between RedHat 6.0 and Real Player G2 releases...YAY!!!! :)
So then we'll all evolve to have one digit on our hands....our thumbs.
Ahahaha!
What kind of gestures can you make to people with only one digit? Not much variety if you ask me.
There is a lot of coverage about Linux there today.
Hollywood & game companies = Freedom of Speech
Parents = parenting
parenting = restricting and advising the kid on what speech they 'should' hear based on the values they, the parents, want to instill in their child
Clear cut case. They probably won't get very far with Hollywood and the game companies.
