  1. No Users on Napster Going Legit · · Score: 2

It seems Napster and it's corporate sponsors really think people have some sort of lingering sympathy for them. They think if they use Napster to sell music access they can tap into the huge userbase. Well, surprise, surprise, there will be no more users. I hope they waste a lot of money promoting this.

Not to sound like a new tech naysayer, but. . .

why would you need to display up to 16 DVDs on one screen? There comes a point where it doesn't matter anymore, your eyes can't tell the difference. Well, I guess the fact that they can do it does bode well for cheaper displays, but man, that's a lot of pixels (and a lot of hardware to get it running).

But look at IBM's recent software development and their Linux budget. Those are real dollars, not dot-com, VC bux.

I don't think the question is how much a company will spend on Linux or Linux compatible products, it's how much are they making from it.

Another way to not pay a cent to MS is to beta test their software, which I do. Puts an interesting light on some of the comments posted here, rumored features/bugs, etc. posting this from IE6 Win XP (pre AOL)

I hate to disagree with an elegant concept such as this, but I have to. Nature didn't create many of the plants and animals as you know them. It didn't create apples, almonds, dogs, cats, tomatoes (or nearly any fruit or vegetable that you eat) or any domesticated animal in it's current form. We did. If you want to read an intelligent book related to this, check out "Guns, Germs, and Steel" by Jared Diamond.
