oh damn. looks like you stole my rant nicole. but yeah, I noticed this too and I have to say I was kinda wondering about that (I'm writing this on my Debian box in XFree86 4.0.3, and glibc 2.2 running kernel 2.4 just fine)... maybe next time michael will check facts before posting.... and as for "slow". I don't know who uses that excuse, but I know kde2 is performing a HELL of a lot better on my P200+ once I installed debian (same version of kde2, kernel, and XFree86 4.0.3 instead of 4.0.2) and ditched mandrake. Don't know why but it was slow as a bitch with mandrake. anyone? oh yeah, and can I just say: apt-get ROCKS !! =)

Bite that. The reason I switched to Debian (well one of them) was because it had a nice clean (and easy to use) text mode installer, and text-mode dselect, and nice text mode apt-get which can install any package (from the standard distro) I like so damn easily. I hate graphical installers, and I think trying to apt-get yourself a new version of X with a graphical interface would be a Bad Thing (tm). In fact, its just asking for trouble. Somethings bound to go wrong and you're up shit creek without an interface. 'nuff rant.

I've just got a symlink in my /var/www directory to my mp3 directory on my webserver. and when I want to stream music off of it, I just flip open konqueror, go to my webservers mp3 directory and drag & drop all the songs I want onto my xmms playlist. someone tell me what the hell is wrong with that? So what you're saying is that Microsoft made an Honest Mistake?? But that requires the one to use the words "Mircrosoft" and "Honest" in the same sentence! arrggh, I instinctivly dislike that.

  8. big brother.... on Even More Surveillance Cameras For England · · Score: 1

If you're not a criminal then you've probably got nothing to worry about. Still, this combined with a technique I saw on the TV news the other week where they can get a computer to scan a picture of a face (from a video for example) and determine their identity - it's maybe getting a little out of hand. Sure its good for stopping crime, but having big bro watching you whenever you step outside isn't a nice thought.... 300? nah, couldn't be! more like 50 maybe?

hey, we're all human beings you know. can't we all just get along. I try not to hate any minority groups in society, but I think I can make an exception where Nazi's are concerned. you people make me sick. if you want to talk this rubbish, do it else where. this is slashdot if you havn't noticed, and you're WAY off topic. just hijacking a random slashdot item to promote you racist views is so lame..... the name Anonymous Coward is very fitting for you.
