I still have problems with kopete. I'm using the latest "stable" release (0.7.2). Although kopete mentions that I'm connected with the yahoo network, there is no connection (at least not an effective one).
Do you use the cvs version? That would be great. Or did all your yahoo contacts just seem offline?
There exist (at least) two versions of the "links" browser; one that is only a text-based browser (now at version 0.98) and one that is a text-based and a graphical browser (now at version 2.1pre1, see http://atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~clock/twibright/l inks/download.html). And the latter is probably the one that was installed...
Mandrake is trying to make profit from offering services to the community and through added value in boxed sets (e.g. StarOffice). Services: - payed support (phone support, garanteed fast web support: mandrakeexpert) - payed automatic update service (MandrakeOnline) - paying for: fast access to new RPMs, participation in the decision process for new RPMS, price reductions on other commercial offerings,... (mandrake club)
If I'm not mistaken, they ask to buy shares or buy services: what's wrong with that?
BTW: following your reasoning: their would almost nobody that buys any commercial software targeted at broad audiences. Most of their friends have it for free, so why pay for it?

Most seem to think that if I get eight different crappy ways to set up PPP, I'll be happy.
Or at least one of these crappy things will work for you...
