I bought a touch screen watch about 8 years ago now, and it was unbelievable at the time. Dot matrix display, phone book, scheduler, memo pad, reminders, stop watch, calculator, and not one physical button. Oh, and you could change the language displayed between English and Japanese. It was called an Aegis Telepad, and it cost me the equivelent of about 20 dollars brand new at the time. I still haven't seen a watch that can come anywhere near beating it.
With comments like this popping up, can they be ignored for much longer.....?
"If you'd like porting or development help. I can arrange it, and I if you make or allow a Linux Quicktime port, I will make it the "standard" for all Andover.net streaming video. We have about 2.4 devout readers on our various sites (notably including http://slashdot.org and http://freshmeat.net), and we're starting to move into video news production, so this is a substantial offer. Has anyone got a screenshot from the broadcast so we can see exactly what this thing looked like? Is the quality so good that you wouldn't realise it was faked while watching it?
This is a dog eat dog world. The only way that huge corporations like NBC and CBS know how to survive is by using every trick they can to trounce the opposition. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but CBS/NBC aren't funded by tax payers, are they? If not, then they have no case to answer legally (morals are another issue). In the UK/Ireland, the national broadcasters are funded by a "TV licence" which each household must purchase from the government, so in a sense the buck would stop at the government if anything like this happened on a national tv station here. At CBS/NBC, I would imagine the buck would stop at the board of directors, who's SOLE vision of the company consists of nothing more than dollar revenue. They are money making companies, with shareholders to answer to, not the general public, and incidents like this only serve to highlight that you can trust nobody but yourself in this world.
This news only reminds me of the current debate over Genetically Modified foods. Do these people really know what kind of forces they are messing with? Ten years from now - "Oh dear, biological computers cause cancer, and the human race will now be wiped out", or even worse, they realise their superiority over humans, and take over the planet, or worse.
Oh, and I've a few things to say, just to save anyone else posting them. *yawn*
"So, when's Linux going to be ported to this?:)".
"Picture it, a LIVING BEOWULF!! BEOWULF yadda".
"Can't wait to play QuakeIII on one of these babies".
There you go, it's said, now nobody else needs to say it.:)

I found it on the list of signatures for that petition, doing curious searches to see if anyone "interesting" had signed up so far...
