Not the army itself but its web of Afghani informants just very well may be which is why the Taliban want the cell towers shut off so they can disrupt this form of communication. A cell phone is a lot easier to explain away when being questioned by the Taliban than a short wave radio or a sattelite phone.

  2. Try Reading The Article on Taliban Demands Downtime on Afghanistan Cellphone Networks · · Score: 5, Interesting
    From the article:

The reason for the threat is the Taliban's belief that American soldiers and rebels within Afghanistan are using mobile phones to track down remaining Taliban members. "Since the occupying forces stationed in Afghanistan usually at night use mobile phones for espionage to track down the mujahideen, the Islamic Emirate gave a three-day ultimatum to all mobile phone firms to switch off their phones from five in the afternoon until seven in the morning," Taliban spokesperson Qari Mohammad Yousuf told Reuters, ironically via mobile phone (and presumably during daylight). They're trying to disrupt the Americans' use of cell phones as a communication network for gathering information. i.e. informants all over the country phone in the whereabouts of Taliban baddies.

I was admitted to my college under Early Admission mostly because 1) I didn't want to fill out more than one college application and 2) I was quite certain I wanted to go that particular school at that particular time in my life. (It wasn't Harvard.)

25% on Capital gains is not outrageous (I'm more for a 5% tax or, better yet, no tax on capital gains) and probably will lower revenues collected from capital gains, however Edwards wants to raise the rates to around 35% or 38% which is coming close to usury and revenues will be sure to drop as people won't realize their gains as often.

I am not thin nor am I fat like a killer-whale. I eat like crap and am 25 pounds above where I want to be. That said, I still exercise. I run marathons (two this year and will do 3 next year). To your point above, after long runs (18+ miles) I will feel feverish for 1-2 days afterwards. My coach tells me this has a lot to do with the body repairing itself after subjecting it to running 18+ miles. I believe him.

Calories are calories. You lose weight when to burn more than you consume. However, a balanced diet is very important too. If your resting metabolic rate is 1000 calories (for the simple math, OK?) and you consume 1000 calories a day, you will neither gain nor lose weight (in principle). However, if all 1000 calories are from eating sugar packets, then there will be long-term problems. Same for 1000 calories of butter or 1000 calories of TVP. Non-soluble fibre is also a good thing to consume once in a while. It is recommended that men in the 30-50 year old range consume 40 grams of non-soluble fibre a day. (that's 2 bowls of FibreOne, by the way)

WeightWatchers works by starving you and forcing you to consume a lot less than you consume.

I don't know much about Atkins or South Beach, but let's assume they're based on total calories. In Atkins your 1000 calories will be 990 from fat and protein and 10 from carbs. I've tried to go a day without any carbs and I feel like I am going insane.

    YMMV.
