For the longest time Lotus had available a SmartSuite, a reasonably full featured office suite for Windows. While SmartSuite was never a leader in its field -- usually playing third behind Microsoft and WordPerfect -- it included notable components such as the venerable Lotus 1-2-3 and Freelance Graphics.
If IBM and Lotus are indeed switching internal and client desktops to OpenOffice.org, is there any reason not to open source SmartSuite, giving OOo (and other) developers access to components and techniques that just might may have value to them?
