It seems that the prevailing thought in the states is that every thing that hasn't been done in the US before, is new. Hardly the case as Computers have been given away by a large number of companies in Europe already.
This is not an Amnesty case! Jon Johansen is coming out of this a very rich kid, and I for one have have strong suspicions that this was his plan all along. Who ever heard of a hacker going out and publicly taking credit for something that was surely a joint effort ? Besides, I have more faith in the Norwegian judiciary system, than the american, and NORWAY IS NOT COMMUNIST!! IT NEVER HAS BEEN!! Einar Vollset. p.s. exam stress... p.p.s. Jon: Hvis du leser dette saa lykke til, men ikke kom her og si du klarte det helt alene, det blir for dumt...
This can be worse than Micrsoft dominance...

..because it will result in a centralised information point. If Time/AOL gets to be as big on the net and in the media as Katz predicts, then they decided what information should go out. And because information is power, then they have the power. There are probably numerous horrendous things that have happened in this world that noone reacted to. This because they didn't know about it. Noone told them. If one power gets to decide what should be told, then they can do whatever they want.
i keep getting an unhandled exception error whenever i try to search a linked list of nodes. i think the problem is that for some stupid reason i am dereferencing a pointer that doesn't point anywhere. dunno where though.
>What Europeans should realize is that here in the >USA we have the opportunity to use the court to >correct wrongs that are made against us.
Yes, and so is the case in Europe as well. It's just that it never seem to occur to people to sue for every stupid thing that goes shite in their life.
>Maybe the brits try to hide theirs. Very possible, and for a good reason to! As I pointed out, it makes you look like a bunch of bloddy morons. p.s. I am Norwegian, not a Brit..
wisest comment i have seen about this && simmilar lawsuits in the states for a long time.
it seems to me that this (hopefully marginal) fraction of americans who sue for this kind of thing, have completely rejected the fact that people has to take care of themselves, and use sound judgement.
it looks like these people want no blame for how life treats them laid upon themselves, and would rather blame others. it increases this oddity when the usa is supposed to be the land of individual freedom, that at once something goes wrong, no matter how petty, you run around complaining to big brother to take care of you.
i sincerely hope that this isn't how most people in the states are, but these are the cases us europeans hear about, and it makes you look like a country of self centered fools.

p.s. sorry about the grumpy tone, but my freaking C++ pointer-project is just not bloddy working:-)
"It is sad to say, but there are people out there who get a big kick out of the challenge of finding flaws in systems"
Now, if Microsoft was a car manufacturer, and they took the approach they are hinting at above, would you buy their cars?
Taking the analogy further, would Microsoft then think that people who perform crash tests on new cars are sad?
