I have to speak out, and agree 100% with this comment... These kinds of articles are very abundant on the common-user's "web," and it's these kinds of articles that make me go to slashdot to AVOID.

Has anyone noticed that linuxplanet.com and microsoft.com's site design contain much of the same layout? I also found it strange that they use many of the same typefaces for their headlines. The strangest part, is if you go to read a document, the "Print this article" icon uses a Windows system typeface, and contains a Windows Printer icon....and I thought I was on Linux Planet.
Yea, you're missing the fact that the G4 chip has the potential to freeze when run at 500mhz, and Apple tried to cover it up with saying that Motorola was having "shortages."
When I was at Seybold, San Fran last month, Steve Jobs and Apple kept poking hints at *how good* Pixar's Toy Story 2 is going to be... and on the floor of the Seybold Seminar, where they unveiled the new G4s, they had a QuickTime demo video on them all...and what did they choose? The trailer for Pixar's Toy Story 2... blah.
Just as long as they don't start talking about mergers like everyone else is doing...
please remember that Apple didn't create FireWire, they didn't create USB, they didn't create the G4, they didn't create the CODECs which power QuickTime, etc etc etc... don't give them too much credit now. =) Also, us nerds should know that the reason they are fruity isn't to impress us. It's to impress the dumb american computer illertate consumer. To make it an appliance to them, and to make it look less intimidating. iMacs have nothing to do with us. The G4 Professional on the other hand... =)

The conversion to Metric in the US is a HUGE process, but we need to begin now. It's not like everything instantly has to change before the end of the year...
And it's not like we can't handle the transition... or is it too big to figure out the difference between a kph vs a mph sign... I don't know, I think about my country (the US), and wonder *if* Americans can handle something so simple. ok- enough grumbling, let me put up my flame shield.
I keep telling everyone that Metric's the way... and I *still* can't find any reason why we shouldn't start converting over NOW. I'm honestly surprised that NASA and it's associates weren't all using Metric anyway... aren't most scientific using Metric anyway? Anyway, if anyone has *any* reason why we shouldn't be moving to Metric in the US....
What ever became of this Seperation of Church and State deal? Religion has no place in Public schools, as public schools have to be impartial to all religions. If you want your children to be educated with Religious slant, one should go private, instead of changing the public schools. Geez, this really upsets me. I have a hard time believing in the United States sometimes. Just don't get me on the topic of why "In God We Trust" is on every United States coin, while we have this thing that talks about the SEPERATION of Church and State. The largest contridiction in the world that I know of. -Saxton
I don't really understand what audience he's targeting. You would think IT people, but wouldn't he assume that IT people know a lot more about their own jobs than he does?
I think it's interesting, that if he wrote articles of this quality about politics, local news, sports, etc., he would have been pulled a log time ago.
