The thing I hated about epee was if you were used to foil, you would forget to keep the blade straight and a good opponent would just keep scoring hits on your wrist.
Also, bare-chested sabre bouts are supposed to be quite interesting.
I remember a story where a number of customers of some institution who were royally pissed off with said institution submitted cheques on a variety of non-paper formats including a toilet bowl and, IIRC, a cow (yes, a live cow). The institution in question had to accept them since they all had the correct information on them.
Skimming the 'interesting theories' article, it stuck me as being like the recent discovery of how bees actually are able to fly. Previously, the aerodynamic laws and theories were not able to explain how bees flew, and in fact they predicted that bees should not be able to fly.
Basically, what we have is the fact that these creatures did actually exist, and presumably thrived. It simply remains to adjust our assumptions about their physical characteristics to account for this fact.
On a slightly different topic, I saw a program which suggested that T.rex did not actually move very fast, since if they tripped, even at moderate speeds, they would mash their skulls.
Except the presumption of innocence means that unless you can prove beyond reasonable doubt that your allegations are true, then I don't have to do anything in my own defence.
Allegations are all well and good, but without proof they aren't worth anything, except perhaps as reason to start a libel or slander suit.
Actually, there is the same amount of gravity no matter where you are, its just that its effect on you changes depending on your distance from the source.
As a side note, presuming you could survive at the centre of the earth, wouldn't you be weightless since the gravitational effect of the mass of earth would be pulling on you from all sides?
IIRC, they had to turn it off becuase the military did not have enough mil-spec units to go around and had to rely on civilian models. So in order for the units with the civilian models to get the accuracy required, they had to turn off the dither.
Will their changes to replace the functionality which is currently performed by the GPLed code be done in a 'clean room' manner? I.e. will the person rewriting the code have access to the original code, in which case there is still potential for some sort of violation (although exactly what I can't be sure).
I always thought it referred to the comic character Mandrake the Magician (hence the top hat and magic wand), which begs the question, when will we see something from the Mandrake team named 'Lothar' (Mandrake's trusted offsider in the comic strip)?
And Bill & Melinda could quite easily give 10 times as much, and it still would not affect their lifestyle. I mean, how many billions do you really need to live well?

I beleive that even where the ships do have double hulls, most owners and oil companies view it as extra space to carry oil.
Or maybe he just had a bad haddock.
Maybe you need to read this

"Then I realized I was reading the NY Times, for free. I've never bought a copy of the NY Times, and yet, because of the Internet, I can read it."
And perhaps even on the other side of the world. And perhaps even before someone in New York has had a chance to read their dead tree edition.

What we need in a .pi TLD for all these sort of pirate operations, with the servers running on a ship anchored in international waters.
If the universe is saddle shaped, imagine the size of the horse!

Microsoft tech support currently have a call in to Superman, based on his previous expertise in reversing the direction of rotation of the Earth.
Singapore is also the country where it is illegal to import chewing gum (I kid you not).
Inquiring minds want to know....
