  1. No High Ground In Sight on Why Atheists Need Captain Kirk · · Score: 1

College sophomores tend to get all messed up on what they think is logic. Many atheists do as well. Because there is a limit to the depths that can be reached in science there is always an element of faith or trust that creates a condition similar to a worshiper in church. Science is able to shift beliefs a bit faster than most religions and set sail on a slightly different course. Religions are usually slower to adopt the latest beliefs. But in the end neither science nor religion is free of the irrational. Philosophy students are easily sucked into this as well. They would be well served to remember the quote that philosophy begins where language ends. Make note of philosophies that must create special words or alter the meanings of existing words or strangle the very nature of language in order to maintain an absurd belief system. Scientology leaps to mind.

In the US we like to sit around and whine that we are falling behind. Stem cells were like that. genetic therapy and crop creation are like that as well. Once the rest of the world gets all the potential profits locked away then and only then can the US to allow the same thing that all other nations have already gotten up and running. It is rather like we did with computers. We can market computers but design and building were pretty much taken by foreign companies. You see we dare not do anything here in America. That is because we are superior.

As it stands the government can do a great job of watching me from many miles away by plane and by satellite. So why should I or my neighbor be allowed less?

There has been some long running beliefs that in psychiatric patients who have visual hallucinations that the patient actually sees something generated by the brain in the eye. Perhaps it explains the rigid insistence by the patients that the visions are more real than normal sights.

Some of the problems are due to individual drivers and not the companies that own them but the drivers have such a miserable situation that simply getting their permits pulled is more a blessing than a punishment.

Obviously that same hydrogen could be used to power turbines at night or on windless days. Hydrogen will play a big role in the Future Shock that is already beginning to slap people right in the face. Imagine big oil and coal and what could happen to investment funds when they collapse. How many mutual funds would crash if oil, gas and coal stocks imploded and how well would pension and retirement funds survive? Yet our political system is not in tune with these escalating breakthroughs in technology at all. How would the economies of the Arab states, Russia and others survive if oil and coal became effectively worthless? The US is strong enough to take quite a few similar attacks without collapse of the nation. All that was really proven was that some clever Arab lunatics managed to do some harm. It shows that they have no real ability to mount a serious attack. Conversely we have the ability to exterminate the entire Arab region with relative ease if we like, Perhaps these people should consider the fact that the efficient way to handle them is to kill all and let God sort the good ones from the bad ones. Playing silly little battlefield games uses up money and American lives. Maybe we simply need to do a demo and just eliminate one nation down to the last living creature.

But laying in weight for the person that drag races at very high speeds takes too much time so the cops are sort of encouraging extreme violations. One red light cam can grab over one million dollars a year for the city. Local policy is to not take points away for cam caught offences. In order for Germany to turn Nazi a situation of deep, moral depravity was required. The collapse of the economy created terror and panic and the Soviets gathering strength also menaced Germans. A state of great fear was key to dumping all sane morality into the crapper. Belief in God among the masses took a hit as well. After all in poverty and panic it is all too easy to claim that there was no God as God would never allow such a state of affairs to exist. There is another unpopular fact that the world doesn't want to admit. German science and art was the pinnacle and no nation came close to doing what Germans had done. They actually had something to loose. And the Soviets did threaten to erase German culture completely while a failed economy mean building a competitive military was very unlikely. The effect was that the German masses sent their morals to the dump and were very aware of the mass murders taking place, Keep in mind that concentration camps were railroad depots and travelers could easily see Jews at forced labor, starving and without protection from the cold, laboring on the tracks near the camps. These inmates were walking ghosts who were obviously being starved. One American GI that I met was laboring in the cities in public view with complete nudity as his clothing had decayed on his back and fallen away, He was forced to defuse bombs that had not exploded. A German housewife was offended by his male organs showing and tossed him a used pair of pants, The notion that Germans did not know is bullshit.

Further we had very ugly dealings with other nations suggesting that our government was an enemy of humanity. With events like arms for the Contra and the importation of cocaine to pay for guns provided by our government as well as the crushing of a few really good governments it is no wonder that many citizens were not ready to take up arms against the government. Today we still see treasonous filth called the republican party doing wrong as fast as they can and filling the public ear with lies and propaganda. A House of Representatives dedicated to doing nothing during a financial collapse deserves whatever the public gives it. A Supreme Court that claims that corporations are people is enough to drive most normal folk to rage. Too big to fail is another thriller. Equal justice for all is rotting in the city dump and no longer applies in America. Allowing privileges to corporations denied to poor people is enough reason to put people into a revolutionary spirit. There is also the point that the way each ethnic group behaves has an effect on the unborn in the womb. For example one ethnic group might display social skills or musical skills which imply some genetic selection of values. Another group might display a gift for areas such as chemistry which require a very narrow and deep focus. We simply do not have all of the tools to make good measurements and conclusions yet.

Cuba is a complex nation with both good and bad points and we should not adopt just the American view towards Cuba. First the revolution in Cuba went astray and many good people were killed or had their lives ruined. There is also no doubt that Cuba backed a hostile Soviet Union during the cold war. There is also no doubt that prior to Castro American organized crime ran rampant in Cuba and the public in Cuba was being raped by corruption. Some Cubans did better after the communist gained power just as some lost their lives, property or freedom. Meanwhile we all act like blissful idiots by avoiding the real issues. Island nations often lack enough natural resources to provide a decent life for their populations. The type of government does very little to change that. For example if Haiti were to go communist today they would still be a very poor nation. If Cuba adopted the government and laws of Sweden or Switzerland or the US Cuba would still be a suffering nation. Natural resources shrink when used. Every year Cuba has less natural resources. With strict birth control and population control such as allowing no immigration at all Cuba could shrink its population and there would be more natural resources per person which can cause more wealth per person. Civil unrest and revolution are all expressions of over population which we tend to see as poverty. Picture it this way. We give each form of government a resting place in its own paper bag. We place each paper bag in a coffin full of fish guts and seal the coffin. We come back after a month and each form of government will have the same wretched stink. The form of the government does not control the prosperity of a nation. If we try to judge nations by their ability to survive we would be talking about strong monarchies in Egypt or China where concepts of fairness simply were not in play and a monarch with crushing powers determined every little thing.

Suppose as a simple example that we can catch ten million Americans cheating the IRS. There is simply no way to process and convict ten million people with any kind of fair judicial system. So most people would effectively be allowed to continue cheating while others would be punished. How does nepotism, racism, bribery and all manner of wrong do under such conditions.? We already detect far more people than we dare imprison and imagine what cops can do simply by sweeping up people and demanding even more people be reported by those detained ? I have already seen a situation in which a drug house was untouchable operated on the border of a public high school. The cops as well as the school were all very aware of the busy drug house and it was simply untouchable. It had reached the point at which an arch shaped window was in stalled so buyers could by dope in a drive through in plain view of everyone. Why authorities allowed that drug house to operate in plain sight I do not know but if they arrested everyone that purchased drugs in that drive through it might have bankrupted the city. First music breaks up boredom. Apparently having something to do stops a lot of drug use and other crimes in general. Then a school band relies upon cooperation. Obviously a band will not sound very good with a lot of kids out of tune or playing the wrong note so every band member has a serious incentive to help every other member. Basic behaviors are also taught. Showing up on time with your instrument, your music and your complete uniform are all part of school band programs. And if you look at playing an instrument as a very competitive action things become even more obvious. What other form of performance in which competition takes place also completely avoids violence? Football, soccer and even track events all involve pain and certain forms of violence. For minority groups the individuals become valued for their ability and performance. The white student can highly value and respect the brown black, red or yellow student who stands out for excellence. There is no student that could not help themselves through being in a rigorous band and concert group all the way from 3rd. grade through college. Then we have a world dynamic as well. If Americans are illiterate for math, science and the arts they are even more in worse shape with their knowledge of music. Ask your next door neighbor why Chopin is so highly respected and there is a 99% probability that all you will get is duh. That leads to a life long lock down on the ability to associate with truly educates people. We will need a new label for low flying drones to distinguish them from larger drones. We also need to gain knowledge on items like fuel consumption for heavy lifter type drones. For example my super market gets a tractor trailer load a day or more from a central warehouse about 50 miles away. A drone lifting the same weight and bulk just might be fuel efficient due to slow highway traffic. Cost may determine use more than legal issues. Other items need to be considered as well. If i order a bulldozer to a job site there is a huge issue with parking the tractor and lowboy that transports the dozer. A flying drone could deposit the dozer and wait nearby in many cases where a large truck and trailer could not fit in well. Or we may see the air ambulance effect ruin it all.
