The Simpsons had a pretty good X-Files parody a couple of years ago.

  2. Windows is older than Unix on Microsoft Clarifies Linux Myths · · Score: 1

By their logic, Windows must be older than Linux/Unix. Since Windows is based on DOS, and DOS is really CP/M-86, and CP/M was based on an old DEC OS, then Windows is also based on old technology.

They used VxWorks on the first Mars landing mission (the one that worked beyond all expectations). I wonder if they switched to WinCe? Maybe they got a deal on a bunch of old Pentiums, you know the ones where 2+2 = 3.9991.

I am amazed at how many different versions of BSD I have seen in articles. In fact I don't think I've ever seen anyone get it right. He also has the history of BSD muddled with FSF/GNU. And Linux is the most common target of net attackers? I would have thought it was Win95/98/NT.

  9. Re:It is communism on Cybercommunism and the Gift Culture · · Score: 1

"When does communist == dictator? Communism had nothing to do with fascism, until Lenin came along that is!!"

When does dictatorship == facism? Marx called for a time when a dictatorship is necessary, until everyone "gets with the program" (if I recall my Marxist Thought class correctly). Unless you are talking about some form of non-Marxist communism.

M$FT has been anti-standard from the beginning (e.g. they got the "/" backwards).

As for Linux vs Windows on the desktop - I just did "uptime" on my linux machine: it's been up for 25 days. I think we had a power outage then. I just rebooted my Win95 machine for the second time this morning ("reboot early and often" is my motto for any WinXX machine). And, BTW, I do most of my work on the Linux box, leaving the Sin95 box for menial tasks like internal email.

  14. Re:Microsoft Episode 1: The darkest side on Microsoft Challenges Linux community · · Score: 1

Hey, wait a minute. MS BASIC was truly a great piece of software. One time I got the syntax of the RENAME command reversed, and renamed every file on my hard disk to the same name (and I think it was *.*). Let's see you do that with Linux.

I'd say this pretty clearly indicates that they don't have a clue.

BTW, did Al Gore invent Bill Gates, or vice versa?
