I had the same experience with my 2012 Nexus 7. The biggest improvement was to root and install a kernel with F2FS support and to format the System partition to F2FS with a custom TWRP recovery image.
With a lighter kernel and F2FS support the tablet feels snappy and only lags after a few days of use.
Holy Cow, now there's a blast from the past. Never thought I'd see the day when someone would mention SLS on/. SLS was the first distribution I ever tried (pre 1.0 kernel) and I hated to see it die, but then I discovered Slackware and all was well with the world again:) I've tried other distributions but I always end up coming back to Slackware for it's stability, security and because it doesn't get in the way when you're admining a box unlike some other distributions.
Unfortunately a large number of the customers of one of my clients reside in third world countries, many of them still use older browsers. Converting all the images to PNG would only hurt their business, in cases like this its not a feasable or practical thing to do.
IE and Netscape are too large for their customers to download on 14.4 lines in addition to per minute charges. Until Mozilla ships (hopefully < 2M) it won't be possible for them to convert to PNG.
The only other option I can think of is a plugin to handle the PNG images. Does anyone know of such a plugin?
After reading the posts for the last two days by Katz and others I was shocked by some of the stories that were posted. Growing up in the Caribbean [Trinidad] things were bad but never this bad, I knew that Geeks were treated badly in American High Schools but the kind of terror that some of the posters experienced would be more that anyone can hope to bear. I guess I consider myself extremely lucky for not being persecuted like this. To all the other Geeks out there just hang in there things will get better.

That was a great game You can find a demo version on Sierra's site in the download section.
