Maybe this is how Jesus originally did it. If God's been around forever, He knows all sorts of cool stuff that we don't. The next question is whether or not alcohol could be powdered by someone with the proper knowledge, but only primitive technology.
Off-topic: the 16th Amendment didn't change anything. It's a distraction from the fact that judges have been ignoring the letter of the law for decades. Look at the grammar and compare it to the laws that came before. Then ask yourself what was repealed. The answer is nothing was repealed. People say it applies to personal income taxes, but there are no words in there that could possibly refer to a person. The 16th Amendment is a restatement of the existing laws in an intentionally confusing fashion. Add in public schools telling kids what to think and you slowly get a society that accepts things just because everybody else says so.
Your view of Russian programmers is the exact opposite of mine. Admittedly, we're both stereotyping Russians, but all the Russian programmers I've encountered have been top notch, or at least impressive in ways that influence me. There was a distributed computing project years ago called Find-a-Drug which simulated potential medicines. I don't remember precisely what blackbird's program did, but I remember people with large computer farms thought he was one of the best things to happen to the project. He basically allowed them to track all their various instances from one place. Doesn't sound like much, but he was the only one that did it properly, and it worked pretty well from what I heard. Then there was a second Russian I heard of that managed to simulate awesome water graphics back when water looked like crap, and he'd had no exposure whatsoever to English/American influences, really any influences, he was about as independent as you can get.
It takes a huge support structure to accomplish things like that. Besides, if everybody was intelligent, it would just raise the bar when it came to stupid people.
Wives aren't simply expected to be subservient no matter what. In a Christian marriage, the two people are expected to behave as if they're the same person. If the wife has a broken leg, then the husband's priority should be that broken leg. If it's a truly Christian marriage, it isn't a problem for the woman to be subservient, because the husband will see his wife's needs as being the equal of his own. If he's abusive with his power, than it's not a Christian marriage and the subservient aspect doesn't apply.
(someone please tell me what I have to do to keep my editing all the way to the post, for some reason slashdot isn't keeping my paragraphs)
Intelligent design makes just as much sense as evolutionary theory. People reject it because they reject God.
You saying,"Prove me wrong," is like a prosecutor accusing an innocent man of murder and saying,"Prove me wrong." People look at the evidence and come to their own conclusion.
There are two kinds of science, the absolutely provable stuff, like facts about protons and atoms, but then there's the legal, historical stuff. If you look at a clay pot and come up with theories about it, or look at a murder scene and try to reconstruct what happened, those are both in the same general categoy as the theory of evolution.
I realize I'm probably just jumping for the flame-bait with this, but homophobe literally translates to "afraid of homosexuals." Maybe I'm pissing in the wind by saying this, but just because people disapprove of homosexual behavior DOESN'T mean that they're "afraid of homosexuals." If people want sane discourse, they need to stop describing their opposition with offensive terms. I'm not a homophobe and I won't describe others with deragotory(sp?) language.
Social Security is an excellent example, actually. If people weren't forced to pay it, only fools would do so. Be better for people in general to force them to invest their money, more return on investment then, even if bad stuff happens to the economy.
Well, I'm going to reveal something here to make a point. I'm attracted to underage girls, and very much so. The reason you won't find my name in the online registry of pedophiles is I was "lucky" enough to contract schizophrenia, so ended up dealing with my problem before I was let back loose after the age of eighteen. I committed the crime multiple times before the age of eighteen, but because of a combination of laws and the opinions of my therapists, I haven't suffered for it.(I haven't figured out which scripts it's safe to enable, so sorry that if this is one continuous paragraph). You guys may say ewwwww gross, what a pervert, but absent any idea of absolute morality, like Christianity, my perversion is just as defensible as the homosexuals. You say I harmed children, but I could just as easily argue that it's the culture that screws them up mentally because they all had to be told they're victims, they didn't decide this on their own. I'm not claiming my acts were okay, I'm just setting up my argument.
The Christian argument is that sexual sin, whether it's porn, homosexuality, adultery, etc. is that the person is basically committing a crime against their own body. So the proper position of a Christian is to reject the behavior, but not persecute the offender. Tax write-offs are obviously a sign of approval of the behavior, which is why we, as Christians, don't want the laws on the books. On the other hand, refusing to serve them in a store is persecution, since being a customer very rarely has any connection to who you like to have sex with.
It just shows the weakness of some people's faith that they try to "do God's job for Him" and end up going too far. Better to follow the song lyric I keep hearing on Pandora,"Reject the guilt, not the guilty, and I promise a better night's sleep."
What about wormholes? Maybe there are dimensions where you can travel at below light speed and get there before light traveling in normal space makes the same trip the long way.
Wait, so you're saying the Theory of Evolution is provable? Okay, smart guy, prove the theory of evolution. I'm waiting.
There are two kinds of science, there's the kind where the results can be duplicated, like with the Laws of motion, and then there's the legal/historical stuff, where you look at history and draw conclusions. I'm sorry, but the Theory of Evolution is the second kind.
You're welcome.
What does connection speed have to do with pirating content? I don't think anyone pirates a movie because it loads too slow from Netflix, given that bittorrenting a movie can take all night.
Maybe the RIAA will jump on me for this post, but when you pirate, you don't have to worry about streaming hiccups. Plus, I very seldom watch my tv shows the moment they come out, I tend to wait a few hours and the watch them on Hulu or Amazon. Tbh, I'd like to do both, be able to download them fully, then either pay for them or have commercials added on the fly.

The real question is, since it's Portland, which way do the vessum vote? Are they influenced by the Grimm?

Damnit, I thought I was gonna see a wreck because of a too short bridge. You can Google for that, too.

Your signature seems a bit ironic at the moment. Not saying you should change your behavior, but...
If they can do the work, I'm sure there are plenty of third world factories that would take them.
Nah, just get Google involved, you could have an e-book page to search on Google. Call it www.google.e-book.com

I've been wanting a way to link up Spotify and my Runescape game. See what they come up with when I fight the Queen Black Dragon.

It works for commercial stuff, why not use the website for this too? Get the news organizations to advertise it.
I notice that there's a gray wall behind that Slashdot logo. Wonder if people would notice if I put a big gray rectangle over that logo?

No one said anything about "provable" above.
