No, the sensible thing would have been to have gotten rid of them ALL on BOTH SIDES in the heady years right after the Wall fell. Now a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity has passed, all because some people refused to let go of the Cold War. Now we're stuck with the fucking things, and more and more countries are desperate to get them because they see them as their only defense against a U.S. or Russian attack.
Never underestimate a bunch of fanatics. And even the *threat* of them having nukes could easily be enough to start WWIII.
I think we've all gotten complacent with the idea that another World War couldn't happen. They thought the same thing in the 20's (anyone remember the Kellogg–Briand Pact?). But it can not only still happen, but I think people would be surprised at how little it would take to actually set it off. That's why diplomats have to treat shit like this very carefully.
Expecting a potential crime victim not to be a fucking idiot isn't the same as blaming them for the crime. Yeah, in an ideal world, I should be able walk through the worst neighborhood in town waving a wad of cash at 2 a.m. yelling "I'm unarmed and have a lot of cash!" and not get robbed. And if I was robbed, it wouldn't be any less a criminal act on the criminal's part. But it would still make me a fucking idiot.
Gee whiz, a scheme where the people at the top bring in lower-tier investors with big promises of wealth, only to pocket all the real money and run off at some point, leaving the lower level investors with nothing. Huh, where have I heard of such a scheme before?
He did clearly mentioned that he is a technology teacher. So I presume he is already somewhat "in the field" already. I don't think it's an unreasonable dream for him to change careers within the sector. I've done it several times myself.
THe Bullshit is how the Media already pushes government propaganda. And flat out careless if they report anything remotely truthful.
Yes, but this threat wasn't aimed at the mainstream reporters who already toe the government line and report the official propaganda. It's aimed at outliers like Glenn Greenwald who actually tell the truth to power.
Because the differences between those few different versions of Windows are trivial for 99.9% of users, they all share the same UI, and they all run the same software. Most users don't even know what version they have, all they really need to know is "I have Windows."
By contrast, Linux is a fucking mess...a giant clusterfuck of a confusing, contentious, conflicting, hopelessly complex and divided, fucked-up mess. Even saying "I have Linux" is a fucking meaningless statement. Which of thousands of different combinations of distros and desktops do you even mean when you say "Linux"?
Since when has the military or the immense national security titan given a fuck about respecting the Constitution? Who exactly do you think is going to stop them? The Congress that doesn't even really want to know what's going on and happily puts a rubber stamp on any legislation with "national security" written on it? The spineless Supreme Court that also rubber-stamps everything and has no means of enforcing their weak-ass rulings anyway?
Bullshit Politician-speak: "We're making real constructive advances in improving national security and our ability to fight terrorism, through planned media leaks legislation."
Non-bullshit Translation: "We're going to start throwing reporters in prison if they tell the public about any of the evil, unconstitutional shit we're doing in secret."
whats a disc?
It's something that still works if you loose your internet connection or the DRM server goes down.
The problem primarily arises when nukes find their way into the hands of unstable actors
WTF do you think Ukraine is? Giving nukes to an unstable country with a openly hostile relationship with its nuclear neighbor is FUCKING INSANE.
Would you support Russia just handing over a shitload of nukes to Cuba? North Korea? Iran? You know, to protect them from U.S. invasion?
I don't give a flying fuck who invaded. Starting a nuclear war over some local pissing contest is NOT an option.
It wouldn't have. But it might have stopped a nuclear holocaust one day when WWIII begins.
Fanatics are on both sides. Throwing more nukes into the mix is going to make an already bad situation 100x worse.
That's because they think outside the box.

Come on now, no one glorifies clowns.
Look around. The pyramid has already begun to collapse. A lot of bitcoin fans are just too stubborn to admit it.
Did you hear that, everyone at Mt. Gox who thinks you've lost all our money? You're going to get it all back! PRMan said so!
European Space Research?
Is ESR his rapper name?
'nuff said.

I think a more appropriate observation might be "Ponzi schemes, pyramid schemes, everywhere."
Has the hatred of MS on /. become so acidic that even the *mention* of MS now must elicit a barrage of hateful responses?
I suspect I would see less venom wearing a "Barack 2012" t-shirt at a Tea Party rally.

Fedora is a US based company, yes? Then should they abide by US laws?
Actually, it's the position of the U.S. government that you should have to abide by U.S. laws no matter where you're based.

"Being a Good Citizen Means Trusting the Government and Doing What We're Told" by student filmmaker Jimmy Faqnaym!! Congrats, Jimmy!
