Toshiba is certainly more than a consumer electronics company. The bullet train is one of theirs for example. I speculate the Westinghouse acquisition buys them the scale and expertise to be prime contractor on more projects rather than a component supplier or subcontractor. This would give them more of the revenue from any one project and bring them up to par with their capabilities in other power technologies.
