The govt in this case doesn't care about that, they want their licensing money back.
You are right. But then without tax and revenue from licensing how will the government function?
We can always argue whether a specific regulation is needed or not, but are you are using the usual "small government", "starve the beast" idea?
Lol you're kidding right? How will the politicians and bureaucrats keep living off the hard work of others if their taxing opportunities are narrowed? Looooool
No need to cite anything. They're unregulated by govt and unions so they must be crazy cracked-out beasts. Or so the govt and unions would have you believe.
420*500*16 bit pixel depth*4.4 trillion frames per second = 1,800 TB/sec. raw, obvously, because i don't know if anything can compress that fast. my ssd can do 500 MB / sec. Is that close?
very true. except its a $3.5 billion company with revenues of $100 million / year and service growing 6% per week -> 20x per year, compounded. there must be a lot of unreal people out there.
lol this is funny but I think Lyft is more strongly associated with hipsters. pink mustaches and fist bumps? I love it cuz I'm not a hipster hater, but whatever.
I'm a white male and I felt like a wierd alien and shit got uncomfortable for me when dealing with most people outside of a few of the CS students at College.
one explanation is that everybody else has a problem...
The "first light" in the summary is just the initial measurements to confirm the health of the equipment. It's not capturing some cool phenomenon. This is apparently a term of art in astronomy, according to Wikipedia.
It's like saying "the satellite booted up for the first time." Good news, but I'm going to keep my pants on.
search the web for "nunn memo", or even better the wapo, nytimes and politico writeups about it. Just leaked in the past week, it's a 144 page "strategy memo" on how Nunn should win her congressional race and then be a "legislator". It's a real downer.
sorry for [citation needed], but I'm at work and shoudn't be seen on the intertubes (tapping this post into my phone while on the crapper).
unfortunately, it's unlikely to be "peak stupid." This would imply that stupidity has hit a maximum and things are only going to get less and less stupid as we move forward. Never undervalue humanity's capability to get more and more stupid as time goes on.
although to be fair, you could call the nuclear arms race "peak stupid" because humanity was flirting with destroying all human existence. n00b spammers have no chance of being this stupid, and hopefully we will never be so stupid again.
I'm sure glad I haven't got much invested in Apple, because it's
heading for disaster as long as Cook is fucking around pretending to be a leader.
you are a very smart man! oh wait apple stock is up 80% since cook took over. i'm not saying the stock price is the most important thing, but I think it's a general barometer of the health of the company. when a stock is up 80% over 2 years there's an extraordinary burden of proof on your claim "heading for disaster".
a lot of comments on this thread are stupid and bigoted, but this one is +1 funny. Jonathan stewart should use this. as a side note, I had a licensing problem with my MS Office (replaced hard drive, then needed to revalidate the programs). Holding my nose, I called the M$ 1-800 number. The experience was fantastic. after a single-level phone tree, the phone was answered on the second ring by a very nice man in india who answered all my questions. it turned out i had a technical problem rather than a licensing problem, so he connected me with another very nice indian man who solved my problem within 5 minutes. It was actually pretty cool.
it's clear that for a company of apple's wealth and reach, the solution isn't to hire diverse applicants, but to produce diverse applicants - invest in education opportunities, scholarships, other programs to bolster the pool of people.
you didn't do any of the work and you're sad that you got bad grades? did you ever think that there could be more going into a grade than the score on a final test?
loooool in US there are no requirements other than being a dickass.
btw, I know london is a socialist state, but have you ever heard of the free market? If uber drivers are shit and get lost, then nobody will use them duh. why would you need to know everywhere by heart when you could just use GPS?
Anybody who picks them over a black cab driven by someone who's done the Knowledge and who is subject to regular testing is either a clueless tourist or a helpless dullard.
bahaha knowledge and testing. what you mean cab drivers? that's insane. who tests them? for what? lulzzzzzz
huh I had assumed that the barycenter would move to the surface as the moon got closer, but thinking about it more I see that you're right it would need to move further away.
a couple Qs if you don't mind, because you obv know a lot about this. so I guess if the barycenter is not in the middle of earth, then the earth wobbles as the moon goes around. Is this what causes tides, it's essentially the sloshing of the ocean as the earth wobbles? I always knew that "the moon causes tides", but I never understood the mechanism.
I guess a second question would be, is there a certain distance at which the moon would escape earth's gravity? I wonder what it is, esp compared to the current distance away? would it be 2x, or 10% or 10x?
greatly appreciate your thoughts, I don't know much about this.
The moon is currently 239,000 miles away, and the barycenter is at 0.75 Earth radii from Earth's center. If the barycenter was at the earth's surface, how close would the moon be?
For the purpose of this calculation assume the earth is a uniform sphere with a mass of 5.97x10^24 kg and a diameter of the earth is 7,900 miles, and the moon is a uniform sphere with a mass of 0.0123 earths and a diameter of 2,160 miles.

No real person has ever heard of "Lyft".
very true. except its a $3.5 billion company with revenues of $100 million / year and service growing 6% per week -> 20x per year, compounded. there must be a lot of unreal people out there.
what does this even mean?
lol this is funny but I think Lyft is more strongly associated with hipsters. pink mustaches and fist bumps? I love it cuz I'm not a hipster hater, but whatever.
they won't last long on uber or lyft because if you get low ratings they'll drop your ass.

what are you talking about. don't be obtuse, have the balls to come out and say it.
it's clear that for a company of apple's wealth and reach, the solution isn't to hire diverse applicants, but to produce diverse applicants - invest in education opportunities, scholarships, other programs to bolster the pool of people.
you didn't do any of the work and you're sad that you got bad grades? did you ever think that there could be more going into a grade than the score on a final test?
and yet you're still a virgin. how about trying to solve that problem? it's not that hard, i'm sure you can work out the mechanics.
loooool in US there are no requirements other than being a dickass.

So why does nobody think they'll get kidnapped by random strangers who
drive cabs ?
ftfy. ive taken a lot of uber and lyft rides, and every ride has been better than the typical sketchy smelly rude cab driver.
I used to live 15 mi away from a nuke plant.
why don't you text your address?
thanks you're cool! I hope the moon never slows down to the point it crashes into earth. that would suck!
huh I had assumed that the barycenter would move to the surface as the moon got closer, but thinking about it more I see that you're right it would need to move further away.

the best question:
