Using a rocket is a very expensive way for fast travel. Air breathing supersonic would make a lot more sense, and after Concorde's failure, nobody's even interested in pursuing that. If you also add in the extra time for check-in, security, travel to/from airport, waiting time due to limited flight schedule, the actual time saved is not worth paying orders of magnitude more.
But Virgin isn't going anywhere with this project. It just goes up, and then comes back down to the place where you came from. The comparison with planes, trains and automobiles make no sense at all.
The (mostly North African/Middle Eastern) immigrants have the highest unemployed rates, lowest education level, and are most active in crime. And many of the mediaeval cultural values they bring with them, we can do without. I don't see a net contribution in either tax or culture.
Look at the link you posted to the 2010 eruption. On the graphic it shows that Greenland was mostly spared in the ash cloud.

What far greater uses are there for a sub-orbital craft ? And don't tell me that this is a stepping stone to an orbital craft. It isn't. If they wanted to design an orbital craft next, they would basically have to start from scratch.
They got a paycheck for doing fun stuff. I don't know they were concerned with the "cause of manned space flight", especially since this is only going to be a short sub-orbital entertainment ride. A peek out over the atmospohere, into space. Not actual space "flight".
If you read the words of the actual scientists, rather than just the journalist headlines, you'll get a more balanced view. The whole point of the black snow project is to figure out how much albedo change there is, and what the different contributions from various causes are.
Where is your evidence that volcanic activity plays a major role ? And which active volcano is actually capable of spewing rocks and lava anywhere near Greenland ?
You would be smart to ignore most of what Al Gore says, or at least verify it with real scientists. And I'm not sure what cute animals have to do with the topic.
That's nonsense. The USA currently have a number of rockets that can lift more than the Chinese rocket. And the manned/unmanned thing is a matter of policy.
Orbital flights mean even faster travel.

I don't need Fox, Sun or UKIP to tell me what I see happening in the streets.

For some reason, climate change deniers are not interested in doing any scientific research. The denial is settled.
Satellite measurements tell you nothing about the cause of the albedo changes.

With a two party system, everything becomes a linear scale.
Probably because they didn't see the pictures.
Immigration is a real and growing problem in Europe. If slowing down the wave of immigration is considered "absurdly right wing", then so be it.

Space-X started by designing an engine, which is the smart way to do it.

Space junk in Earth orbit is completely incomparable to a crashed satellite on the Moon's surface.

Looks like they just missed the netting they had set up to catch the plane. You seem to be the only one making a big deal out of it.

There's a difference, but there's also a large overlap.
my personal opinion is that it is consumerism more than anything that's to blame
Plus all the cheap oil is gone.
As long as the evidence fits, the theory sits.
Compare to here on Earth. The moon is bright enough to be visible during daytime, but you can't see stars.
Even if they continued the missions, bringing samples from the moon would still be way too expensive to be handing them out to school kids.
The satellite images of people sunbathing on their roof are actually taken with an airplane.
And they're not any better than unmanned US missions.
