    yep. you got it. However, one time pad design finally became public key crypto since one time pads were so inconvenient. i've no doubt a form of quantum encryption will be found similar to that of public key crypto...this is just the beginning of quantum encryption. In order to understand recursion one must understand recursion.

    nope. they have *NOT* done any such thing. They used a 11 node neural net for necognising 4 words...which is all well and good until you reach reality (10,000 words) and continous (rather than the discrete stuff they were doing) language processing. In that environment your pentium iii, K7 or even alpha isnt upto the task. Note that the 20 MILLION dollar electronics in the eurofighter are so far the only platform for recognising language independent speech with nearly 100% success rates in real time (what? you didnt know the eurofighter has speech recognition? now you do).

    I've been doing chaining with some success using lpr...i'd like seamless chaining i.e. print_job_on_some_system (mac/pc/unix) -> (server) -> (print server) -> (printer) and proper remote admin (preferably without logging in) with secure authentication...something lpr currently doesnt have.

    Its a hoax for one simple reason - it has a license thats incompatible with the GPL. You can rerelease linux as a BSD style program, so they cant release it anyway. OF course you cant host 600+megs of linux on a 10 meg geocities account either.

    MY cyrix has an uptime of 153 days and still going strong. It's never crashed. period. and the only reason for a reboot was to upgrade from 2.0 kernels....YMMV depending on your cyrix motherboard manufacturer.

    yeah thats ok..but when was the last time you went to a nightclub and had a one night stand ? im quite happy doing what i do, but its a helluva lot less fun than the morons who hang out at (pub/disco-down-the-street) are having....or supposed to be having...i never liked nightclubs anyway..programming was always more fun.

    correct analogy would be a flat stone skipping across the water surface...same principle. BTW, in iceland they have 800HP dune racer type vehicles that can drive across water (as long as they run faster than 70mph..if they dont..they sink)...cost $50K each and burn methanol type racing fuel.

    i use a duplexer on a hp laserjet 4MP and laserjet 4000 to print double sided pages..works great with linux...The duplexer is a physical device BTW that sticks on the back of the printer.

    Actually SGIs go up to 1600 x 1200 which is not that much of an improvement over 1280 x 1024 which is the standard PC resolution. Now PCs are getting 1600 x 1200 too, so SGIs are loosing ground. BTW, i work on an SGI and have frequent access to a high res pc monitor as well as an SGI LCD screen..theres not *that* much difference between em...of course, you wont see me ditching my SGI for some time. :)
