interesting...two highly popular distro's excluded due to "ridiculously slow release schedules"...and then the reviewer claims Caldera to be a major distro...yeahhhhhh
Being a Slack(7.1) user myself, I view security in a different way: Do it your damn self;-) If you don't know what's going on in your own box on the security level, then you are, simply, asking for it.
I could rant more, but I'm happy enjoying my home-brewed security. Just because Patrick and the Debian team take their sweet time to produce a quality product does not mean that the product is unconsiderable.
I think you're missing the point. The whole idea behind this is that it's a struggle that must be fought. Yes, protests, boycotts, and all that work as well, but so does vandalism. It gets the point across. Think about it: If someone is so completely bent on something that they would feel like vandalizing a building in the name of counter-oppression, what is it most closely related to? War. Numerous wars have been fought through the destruction of buildings, most of the time safely, without casualty. This is a proven method to make people think about their ways, and how they ignore the little people.
Obviously just this incident will not cause McDo's to remove from Europe, but this is only the beginning. Everything starts somewhere, beit vandalism, a hunger strike, disabling net censoring software, or standing boldly in from of a line of tanks. It's just a fact that pissed off people will do what they need to do. Choose your weapon.
I was reading the article and it made no mention of the style of license that will be used. They'd be crazy as hell to use GPL(would get news though..) Maybe they'll use something like the apple Open Source license.
Right on there. I remember about a year ago, Kipling BagPeople had a contest going that if you could "hack" their site you'd getcherself a free bag and whatnot. The "hack" was actually a wide-open javascript algorithm that took something like a week or two to brute force crack. I believe I still have the source somewhere for reference..
No, more like...Is it Free? I'd rather have _free_ open source software than have to obide by a "community license" or have to pay for the source, just like some companies *cough*microsoft*cough* do.
Yes, but you go ahead and type something that long into a tiny box(i think you can make in larger, dunno exactly). He obviously wrote it in say Wordperfect and copied it over.
it's a good thing you're not in holland, Michigan. People have gone to jail for damaging tulips before, and I don't wanna know what kind of punishment munchin on one will bring;)

Nope. got that wrong...Allendale:P GVSU CS owns michigan as far as i am concerned...oh yeah if any gvsu students read this other than me i just *have* to plug kistler house...cuz it rocks.
It'd be slow, for sure, but encapsulating messages inside of images using steganography libraries should be very feasible as a means of tunneling.

They're still words!
well, just because _your_ family doesn't celebrate april fools' day doesn't mean you can ruin it for the rest of us! ;-)
well, it seems that the OSS movement could(long in the future possibly) engulf the Evil Empire ;)
Have you checked out the kernel source lately? try peeking into /usr/src/linux and you'll find most of the docs there.
