There is only one rational explanation for 19,605 to zero. You could put Captain Crunch on the ballot and he would get a non-zero number of votes, especially in an area where many of the residents are illiterate. No, this was fraud pure and simple.
That would be supply and demand. Few people have the talent, drive, courage, etc. to be a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, but anyone with a pulse can push a broom.
So how did it happen that Romney gets not one vote from 59 voting divisions in Philadelphia? Not one single vote. 19,605 to zero. Same with 9 precincts in Cleveland. Without fraud like that, the election might have had a different outcome.
I would argue that one cannot simultaneously be a social liberal and a fiscal conservative. Social liberals uniformly support the massive welfare state that threatens our very existence as a nation. The debt is now larger than GDP. Let that sink in. Not only that, but the way that the government figures its debt would get any CFO thrown in jail. The government chooses to use a cash-based instead of an accrual-based system to hide the truth. If they used the accrual-based system, the debt would be over $96 trillion (or over 5X GDP), as opposed to the $18 trillion widely reported. $96 trillion represents over $800K per citizen (including children).
Fiscal conservatism means living within our means, instead of this massive intergenerational theft.
I don't know how to fix this, but I think it should be fixed.
Washington is simply incapable of fixing itself. The only way to put the genie back in the bottle is an Article 5 convention of the states. That would over rule congress, the president, and SCOTUS. Mark Levin wrote a book about this called "The Liberty Amendments". Well researched and highly recommended. Levin makes Sunstein look like a kindergartener.
Cass Sunstein holds the laughable position that the second amendment is to ensure the government can be armed. Any of his other musings are probably similarly disconnected from reality.
No, I am not. When one of our poor neighbors to the south gets TB, where do you think they go for treatment? Many are encouraged to sneak over the border and visit a SoCal ER. One of my friends is an ER doc there and he has first hand knowledge. An assertion that this is not pertinent to the discussion at hand is moronic.
California's southern border situation is far, far more dangerous than a few un-immunized natives. Immunization rates in central and south America are far, far lower than here in the US. But the right wants cheap labor and the left wants illegal votes, so we have no representation in this area. One naturally wonders why the obsession with immunization when public health is manifestly less important than open borders.
There is more to it than the age of people, the quality of the music has something to do with it as well.
I ascribe much of the death of Rock and Roll to MTV. Taking an audio experience and making it audio/visual seems to have killed the audio. My favorite group growing up was Heart, and IMHO the pinnacle of R&R was their pre-1980 body of work. The vocals and guitar work were simply amazing. After about 1984 they went pop/video and that was the end of it. Now if you want new R&R you have to listen to a country station and catch Band Perry or Jason Aldean. The upside is that some country is also very listenable, especially songs with steel guitar, possibly the most interesting instrument in the history of mankind.
Anecdotally, my kids listen to '70s rock and old country more than anything else. Thrilled they don't like rap. Double yuk.
Once I saw a stream of hydraulic fluid coming off a wing near the engine on a 737. I told the flight attendant who brought the pilot back. They kept a close eye on the hydraulic fluid level for the rest of the flight.
No, I would put it like this: there are certain aspects of the earth beyond our knowledge. Some of this is because of the extremely short period of time we have been around compared to the lifetime of the earth. Our data is about 8 ten thousands of one percent of the lifetime of the planet. The other is scale. What creates the magnetic field? Has anyone seen the core of the earth?
The hardcore environmental movement is all about totalitarianism. Watermellons. Green on the outside, commie red on the inside. Typical is Gary Stix. The article he wrote in Scientific American, where he is a senior editor, will tell you all you need to know about the global warming scam.

Newmans points is:- let Australia keep digging up coal and selling it to China, As with all idiots like this, they are aligned with the fossil industry in some way.
If you drove a car to work this morning, then you are aligned with the fossil fuel industry.
If you heated or cooled your house today, then you are aligned with the fossil fuel industry.
If you bought food at a grocery store this week, then you are aligned with the fossil fuel industry.
If you took any medications this week, then you are aligned with the fossil fuel industry.
If you used a computer today, then you are aligned with the fossil fuel industry.
Um, scientists don't vote. They experiment and try to poke holes in their own theories. And voting does not prove any thing at all in the scientific sense.
Go fetch me a scratch Earth and we'll test it together.
So, since experimentation is a highly critical part of the scientific method, and it is pretty much impossible to test the theory of AGW on a scale suitable to the question, we can just ignore that part and call it settled science. Its a good thing that the particle physicists aren't so sloppy.
"Free Market" assumes demand exists independent of government coercion. There are no "free market solutions" to an issue with essentially zero organic demand. Remember when you could book an airline ticked and purchase carbon offsets at the same time? Nobody checked the box and it went away. That is the free market. People are willing to hear the arguments but when push comes to shove they want someone else to have to pay the piper.
God: You know Rush, I created the heavens and the earth. But I forgot one little detail (smacks self on forehead)
Rush: What was that?
God: (Frowning) Carbon Dioxide. I set it up so that plants *require* it, but I effed up and made it a byproduct of respiration of all animal life and burning all those hydrocarbons I put in the earth to sustain life. Now it is warming my planet. You know I got DNA right, sexual reproduction, cellular biology, the web of life, etc. How could I have missed that?
Rush: What are we going to do about it?
God: I don't know, you tell me.

Recursive bigotry. Great.

The same can be said for any aspect of the human condition. Don't be so maudlin about it.

87.3% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Information that could make civilians more dangerous to police or military should not be available to civilians at all, obviously.
Um, no, that is not obvious at all. In fact, it makes you sound like a bootlicker. Are you a bootlicker?
One could say the same about the USA...
And one would be wrong. Anyone proposing a moral equivalence between Islamists and the USA is insane. Get help.

RR reduced the number of pages in the Federal Registry by half.
There are more Rs at the state level than any time in recent history.
Because saving the world shouldn't factor into your decision.
Or maybe not everyone has the hubris to believe that your choice of power systems will "save the world" as if it needed saving.
