I'm not sure how you use subtraction but it certainly shouldn't be in context of spoken/written language.

Obviously the 5000 streams are at any one instance, not how many in total they can support in their lifetime. The lifespan of the cards are not measured by stream count (which is arbitrary anyone because a stream has no predetermined length of time).
