Oh, please. Bullshit. If Linux were the 98%-used desktop OS, it'd be the one hit with all the viruses.
All these viruses, including MyDoom, are user-ran executable attachments. Nothing to do with Windows other than it's the dominant operating system the dumb users are using.
Tons of Apache-powered sites get Slashdotted every day. I honestly believe there is virtually zero difference in performance between Server 2003 and Apache--it's all about the admins who set them up.
God, I hate that about Windows. If I ask my computer to open two windows of the same folder then it should do it! Windows assumes what I want and tries to second guess me (oh, you don't really want to open that folder again, do you?). KDE does what I tell it to do, which IMHO is what a computer should do. It is not the computers job to read my thoughts and try to figure out what I "really" mean.
So why don't you go to Folder Options and tell Windows to open seperate windows for each folder? It's as simple as clicking a checkbox. This was actually the default behavior in Windows 95.
For all the "configurability" Linux desktop users are always going on about, they sure do ignore those same features of Windows...for whatever reasons.
No mention of KJuk being a COMPLETE RIP-OFF of iTunes? Come on...we couldn't have even come up with a different interface?

Every since Slashdot posted that article, I've been wondering if they're ever going to happen to notice that KDE removed the Taiwan flag just so they could sell to the Chinese government. Never mind China has its own Linux distribution as well. But we won't see a "Open Source Violates Human Rights in China" article, will we?
This is what I don't get. People want the government to step in and regulate Google--the hell? Google is a private company running their own search service. Why would the government step in?
Oh, that's right--it's just people mad that their site is low on the list. Well, nobody's forcing people to use Google at gunpoint. Many people do so because it's a good search engine. Tough. That doesn't entitle the government to step in because you're mad at some company's search engine.
My post is being modded as Off-topic, but this one is +5 Insightful.
Never mind that it all just illustrates my third point...relax, guys. My post was obviously tongue-in-cheek.
No, I don't see a difference between the words "geek" and "nerd." To arbritrarily decide there is a difference seems way too anal retentive to me. But that's just me! Sheesh.
I know people here may consider it "too little, too late," but with the upcoming SP2 for Windows XP, Internet Explorer will not only block pop-ups and manage downloads, but instead of popping up a box that asks you to download, it will just have a little icon at the bottom you click to give you a list of what the site is asking you to install. They're trying to cut off drive-by downloading. It's a start, and I look forward to it because I think it will cut down on my tech support crap by a ton.
I switched back to Ad-Aware. It detected a bunch of things Spybot didn't. If your spyware program isn't detecting porn site cookies but complaining about Slashdot banner ads, I'd think about switching.
Uh, you can do that. Have you even tried? I have two open as I type this.
Last I checked, the "M$" website was running just fine.
P.S. Should we call this place "$lashdot" from now on, since a corporation owns them and they put banner ads everywhere unless you subscribe?

Site works fine for me.

They're too busy reporting that Microsoft is "violating human rights in China" because bad people use Windows. Disregard Red Flag Linux for now.
I think it was more in reference to the ever-watchful nature of the television show. Hence the quotes.
Are you saying that there are no standards of quality for free software?
Your sarcasm is interesting, considering a very large percentage of Slashdot's articles come from OsNews.

I stand corrected. Thank you.
Let's just say that KDE 3.2 should raise eyebrows in Cupertino and soil pants in Redmond.
It won't.
OS X has had this ability since release. It's bad enough KJux is a complete rip-off of iTunes.
I don't get it. Where are the fresh ideas?
I agree with that, too.
Did you not see the last numbered point of my post? Right over your head.
Did you not see the last numbered point of my post? Whoosh--right over your head.

How ridiculous!
This is hilarious.

You're proving my point about the need to win pointless arguments.
You guys don't even see it.
You're proving my points, arguing about the imagined difference between "geek" and "nerd," where there is none among the rest of the population.

Please don't confuse "geek" with "nerd"....I am a geek. I am not a nerd. There is a difference.
Man, I could have written an entire paragraph on that little piece of hair-splitting semantics.
.NET is replacing Win32 in Windows Longhorn.
