Got to admit I am looking for some kind way (time, and lack of inertia) to get fitter, although I have the opposite problem, I used to weigh about 28lb (?? 2 stones) more than I do now, although back then I was working for the forestry, rebuilding an old stone house and studying kung fu, now I even get tired going up stairs which really comes as a shock.

There is a big problem with trying to post it anonymously though, if you already reported it to them then they have a good chance of guessing who grassed them off, and the chances are that even if you don't think you have signed any NDA or contract then they have some comeback, even if it only consists of a couple of burly blokes with stout sticks.

A lot would depend on what the client is, i.e. is it already publically released? how many testers are there? if there is a good chance that other people will have found the hole then you should be ok releasing it anonymously, otherwise . . .

And of course if it isn't already released then you can wait till it is and then report it, suspect they will learn a much more profound lesson that way.

and yeah i know, most people aren't going to do this . . .

means you are going to have to be damn sure about anyone you let near your pc as well (repair persons/tech support/consultants etc), it's a fairly trivial matter to put in a keyboard logger and they might just doing this job for a couple of weeks and then off to a nice mansion in the country. right now the greatest protection you have is that most of the stuff on your (private) pc just isn't worth the hassle.

and a higher level of security on the majority os will be essential, take for e.g. the trojan mentioned on a previous thread, now it just sends your ip and dun details, maybe the next version will just stay quiet for a day or 2 waiting for some real juice.

do we really need this? it makes things more conveniant, but how conveniant do we want life anyway, just imagine in the future when your most important descision is choosing baby's new chair, with inbuilt massage to prevent muscle atrophy and drip lines for food and caffeine.

NETSEC employees have since monitored an Internet chat room set up by the hackers as the vandals identified victimized computers, discussed strategies and boasted of their work.

``When he thinks all of those clients are sleeping, one of them is really active and watching them,'' Waskelis explained.

err so these h4x0rs can write vb trojans, get them onto 2000++ comps, but they don't understand the concept of lurking?? (2nd thoughts, maybe the client mentioned is meant to be the trojan)

love this though, from their site

Search the hard drive for a .exe file with a random seven to eight character name. The file typically installs itself in /Windows directory. , now that advice is better than the trojan (the next step is to :)) even if you ignore the number of exe files on most pcs and that win95 doesn't show all cap filenames by default (?)

anyway off to delete any 7/8 char exe files in my win dir to be on the safe side

you are not vietnamese, you are not cuban, you haven't been fighting against foreign rule for generations, you don't live in a country with a poor infrastructure, you are not fighting a poorly trained, unused to death, avg. 19 year old, unfamilier with the territory, overextended force.
