I hereby take this opportunity to resign as Publisher of OSNews, for the heinous crime of posting a submitted news item on a Memorial Day Weekend Sunday and only doing the most preliminary fact checking. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa! I've been Punk'd.
I think that the comments on Slashdot is the perfect form for announcing my resignation.
It's true that OSNews publishes a lot of reviews that are short and not very in-depth. As another person mentioned it's mostly due to the fact that people want to read about what's new, and so that means reviews need to be written in one or two days, tops. Also, when the reviews are written by volunteers, as they all are, they won't all be masterpieces of literature. So why don't you write your own review. OSNews has a liberal submission policy. Go to the site, click on "Submit News" and send us a review, editorial, or newsbit. We'd love to publish it.
Remember, that some of the speed of the connection you enjoy will be based on the processor of the device, that has to process the TCP/IP information. In other words, accessing the web from my phone's browser is slow, because my phone has a very slow processor. But I plug my laptop into the phone and access the web through that, it's much, much faster. My guess is that if your Toshiba had a faster processor, your experience would be better. I mean, the StrongARM 206MHz Processor isn't bad, but it's not as fast as the processor in my laptop, or the latest xScales.
I can't speak for the Mandrake article, but I take offense that you call my article half-baked. I called it 3G because SprintPCS calls it 3G. I put a lot of effort into the article, and I think it has a lot of good information. Sure, I'm glad that Slashdot posted my article because I'd like to let people know about my new site. If you don't like it, don't go there.
Hemos meant that Tallyman/Minivend are better...

Hemos meant that the Tallyman/Minivend combination is of higher qulaity than the commercial ecommerce systems that they compete against in the marketplace. And they'll only continue to improve, and at a faster pace than the closed source systems.
One year ago, Tallyman was in prototype stage, a custom-designed ecommerce system for a golf retailer. Now, it's a GPLed fully functional system with features comparable to commercial ecommerce systems. http://www.tallyman.com
Open Source ecommerce application Tallyman is working within the constraints of a web-based interface, but still makes it so easy to build and maintain an ecommerce site that a marketing guy could do it.
Actually, the only reason he makes these gaffes is because he has a great interest in courting the technology-aware voting base. Okay, it hasn't worked out as well as he would have hoped, but at least he's sympathetic. Would you prefer to elect a technophobe who just keeps his mouth shut about it?
Not only have I heard of diagramming sentences, I actually find it quite fun. FYI, I'm 34. I'm also a grammar geek.
