Not EVERYONE who uses VB is totally incompetent. You make it sound as if it's completely useless. It does have some very nice uses, although it'll never be my programming language of choice.

This is an elitist attitude, and THIS is what will keep people from even WANTING to learn another language. (The attitude of 'well you're to stupid to learn anything but VB')

  3. Why was linux made??? on DeCSS Litigation Update · · Score: 1

if the deCSS program is outlawed, Chapman said, "Linux users would have to go out and buy Windows -- and Linux was created in cyberspace, by a community of users, to be an alternative platform to Windows -- because everybody thought Windows had too many problems."

I have to disagree here. This alone makes me doubt the credibility of the article. Linux was actually made, AFAIK, as an alternative to minix. It just turns out that it's a plain old good OS :)

  7. Re:If anyone's worried about it.. on Linux 2.3.46 Released Unto the World · · Score: 2

I partially agree here. But there is a reason it's called a beta kernel. If you've just installed linux and don't have too much experience (ie i've never even RECOMPILED my kernel), then DO NOT use a 2.3 kernel. However, if you are not worried about crashes, or if you have some need to run 2.3 (USB, better TV support, etc) then go for it. But don't cry when it doesn't work :)

If you'd actually bothered to READ the BSD license instead of just believing what others tell you it says, you would know that the *BSD license is indeed a 'free' software license. It is arguably more free than the GPL b/c you (as end user) have mroe rights than you do under GPL
