Ended up buggering it and had to reinstall Windows 8 and upgrade to 8.8 -- not that I'm thrilled about the Windows 8.1 GUI though certainly way better than Windows 8. Can you quote some pricing and feasibility? As far as I've been able to research, renewables face a storage dilemma exactly because there's no cost-effective solution.
