This is a circular argument. Padilla is a citizen of the US. Padilla was declared to be an enemy combatant by the president who then ordered him "disappeared". He was arrested in the Ohare airport by the FBI. That's american soil, a public place, by civilian authorities.

The whole point is that George Bush can make anybody disappear at anytime by simply pointing at their name and saying the words "enemy combatant". That's all it takes. If the person is in the United States at the time that person will just go away and nobody knows where (my suspicion is that they are sent to another country to be tortured most likely israel). If they are not in the US they will be assassinated by the CIA like the guy who got a missle shot at him in Yemen (that guy was also an american citizen).

During those times the middle class disapeared and the wealth concentrated in the hands of a very small number of people. Today in countries in which there is no redistribution that same situation exists.

Capitalism does redistribute the money, from the poor to the rich. In a purely capitalisitc system the rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer. Capitalism is like the game of risk. Once a company get strong enough all the other companies can be crushed or bought out altogether. If capitalism was left alone there would be one or two companies in the world that would own everything and the majority shares in those companies would be held by a few dozen people.

Of course as I said before before that happened there would be a revolution, the rich would be killed and their assets seized and redistributed. That's what history shows us anyway. As a drunk playboy kid Gearoge Bush could have walked into any police station in texas, dumped a line of coke on the police chiefs desk and snorted it knowing the worse that could possibly happen to him would be that the police chief would give him a ride home.

After the wealth gets concentrated to such degree there is usually a bloody revolution in which the rich are killed and the wealth gets redistributed and the whole cycle starts again.

The US govt redistributes wealth just enough to prevent a revolution in other countries there is more or less redistribution. In most European countries there is more redistribution for example while in most third world countries there is very little. This is why in most most third world coutries there is no middle class and almost everything is owned by a few families.
