Well.. ctrl-b, Ctrl-u, Ctrl-i will work to do that with the text in most applications (Damn you Adobe PageMaker) and it is much faster than selecting a button or a menu, course, I have been using those for years. Cut and pasting you have ctrl-c, ctrl-v and ctrl-z (copy, paste, cut respecively) and very few people I have worked with or have seen using word need the usless mousing because it is to much of a hassle to move your hand back to the mouse at 85+wpm.
So.. now that AMD and Intel are both on the FM dial with these chips, how long till the Vaneck phreaking devices that can understand and translate the signal.
would probably need some sort ot amplification device... I see lead cases in our future.. of course, would have to figure out a way to get the cooling fans to work without openening holes;)
BTW, this is sarcasm, but I just wonder what my pc will sound like on the radio.. will have to try that
For example: You may NOT use the PEZ® mark (or any other registered trademark belonging to Pez Candy, Inc. or its affiliates) on your website or your business in any way, shape or form.
Silly me, I thought that the "in any way, shape or form." meant exactly that. I guess I was wrong.
If this is legitimized, imagine what is next, could they then turn around and say that slashdot violated their copyright by using their name on the main page?
This just seems to violate free speech totally, I guess we'd better rush out and put similar clauses into everything we own too huh?
This just proves that there are more lawsuits than legitimate cases.
In other words, if it's all sweetness and light, why do you have this compulsion to prefix the word "Shadow" to everything? Celebrate the Eve of All Saints' Day (OK, Halloween, er, Samhain...) when it's dank and dark?
I didn't realize that I did, if you are referring to my handle.. it's quite simple, something I've had since my BBS days back in the early 90's. I drove a 1988 Dodge Shadow with artwork of a Dragon ripping out the back window... I needed a handle for the bbs's and that is the one I chose. It had/has no religious impact on myself whatsoever. Conclusions were drawn without any questions asked or knowledge given... which is the point of my discussion. Assuming is a bad thing (tm). Was it not E.S.R. That warned us geeks to not speak of things which we do not fully know, because sooner or later someone will call us on it.;)
True witchraft combines both the light and the dark, the male being the sun, the female being the moon. The fact that the most read/written about in todays world stems from the 'darkness' speaks nothing of the truth.
The celebration of All Saint's Eve is by tradition, when the veil between our world and the astral is the thinnest. It's at night.. the point there is? Night=evil? I think not.
Since I guess this is inevitable.. a bit of background on myself.. I was raised in a christian (Assemblies of God) home, going to church three times a week. When I was old enough to be inquisitive and ask the questions I was not supposed to ask, I chose my own path... with my own beliefs, a combination of what I was taught and what I have learned. Paganism is quite a big part of my views, the 'each one has their own path' is what drew me to it. I was married in a pagan hand-fasting ceremony, on the steps of a church... and in the day time no less.
There are some of course who follow evil, but there are also those that follow light.. but which is more interesting to talk about.. the good.. or the bad?
Ah yes.. and before you get some sort of evil connotations from my.sig... I am a third shift systems administrator.. quite literally, I do more work on the servers over night than is done during the day.
Yes, I have seen programs that will "unprogram" this key. I used to have the same problem till I switched to my trackball for quake and use the buttons for fire/open/crouch, with E,S,D,F controlling the movement. I don't have any url's but I know they exist, as shareware no less.
Actually.. in the true fashion of a fingered 'salute'...
This is the way I do it.
Right ALT = Thumb
right Ctrl = index finger
del = middle finger
My reasoning? The other two fingers on the right hand are resting on the wrist rest.. if one is really fed up with the computer when pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete.. all one has to do is bring the hand up and show the pc what you think of it;)
Wow, a mention by THE Illiad *bows and scrapes* "I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy!" (he hates when I do this). Yes, he is just a normal person just like the rest of us. A bit busier than most.. just make sure to prod him about the llama's when you talk to him;)
As he said, the UFPFH is still alive, if not very active, registrations to be made with the NPO's etc takes a lot of time and work. I personally would like to thank all who offered their help to us with searching out the info and desgining the site and so on. We do still have all of the information we have recieved and once we are up and ready to go we will be contacting all of you.
Yeah, the definition of pagan that was being used was the christian definition "Anyone who doesn't believe how we believe and needs to be forced to believe our way."
Not exactly. I got mine from the address that I signed up for Bugzilla with. It appears to be those that either A.) send code to RedHat, or B.) support the open source community by beta testing RedHat software (like me)
I haven't submitted any code, but I did submit bug reports for Redhat 5.9 (starbuck)
Another reason could also be included... C.) those that know people at RedHat because, since I live in the RTP area, I know a few of them, two of them more than just aquaintences
Well, I handle abuse at an ISP in North Carolina, and have been following this closely.. all I can say is it's about time this bill got passed.. less than $1500 damage is a misdemeanor, more than$1500 damage is a felony.. I can't wait to get out the old calculator and start adding this up.. Can I use the SysAdmin's price list from alt.sysadmin.recovery?:)
On this note... My wife was mail bombed from a UUnet account two weeks ago.. contacted uunet, nothing really happened.. It happened again Saturday morning.. she was connected at the time.. I called UUnet, gave them the IP.. they knocked the user offline and shut off his account, and asked if I wanted to press charges.. too bad the bill didn't pass earlier..
Funny thing happened, I currently (as of right now) live in Clayton, NC. which is Sprint territory, I am moving today back to Raleigh. I called Bellsouth yesterday to get my telephone turned on in the new place (can't live without the internet:) ) and sure enough, the rep just happened to mention "By the way, since you are going to be hooking computers up to the lines, and you are getting a line just for a modem, you know that we are an ISP right?" my reply to this? "Yes, unfortunately, I am a Linux & Solaris user and you guys don't feel like selling your ISP service to us... That and I work for an ISP which does cater to to the Linux community" She dropped the subject immediately and never brought it up again.. figures huh?
Time Warner won't get cable modems, we lost that chance when they bought cablevision (who is now supporting cable modems) a place I worked before (selling computers in the RDU area) I had some good contacts at Time Warner (Their Durham location was builtand they used the computers I sold them exclusively there, including a very sweet dual processor/Ram out the wazzoo/mirroring RAID server, and there official statement on cable modems is "not any time soon" (at least in this area)
I'm a good 30 miles from my actual popsite and getting 46.6k connects with a USR v.90 with 3-4k downloads.
From what I've heard from our marketing people, we will be getting xDSL set up for businesses in the RTP area within a month or two, and since we run/own most of our own fiber, I don't see too much longer a wait for DSL coming to the home market for those that want it in a big chunk of BellSouths area. Might want to keep an eye out, even though only us SysAdmins, and a few of the network techs can set up a linux system, we don't deny anyone (even had a UNIX sysV user call the helpdesk last week) access.
Vacation??? You mean you weren't getting paid to go to the expo... boy do I feel lucky:) (guess it helps that my company provides the fiber for the internet connection to the convention center.)
And.. you didn't get away from all of us, that's for sure.. remember the baby? *grin* Remember the camera? *even bigger grin*
I know I'm gonna hate myself for this shortly... but... everyone wanna see CmdrTaco blushing? Then here you go;).
Now onto the moderator topic...
I personally have my settings to read all the way down to (-1) sometimes these comments are good to read, most of the time they aren't. My idea, since some people like to miss out on parts of the conversation by only picking the higher numbers, is to perhaps, in addition to the usual way of distributing moderator points is to have a select few, that you trust of course, to have a sort of permenant moderator status, it could be limited to 5 per day/week what have you, but still give the people who really want to moderate, and do so well, a chance to rate these postings.
The "PermMods" would of course have to base their moderation points on the guidlines, and not let their distaste for a subject, extreme liking of a certain subject, etc. get in the way of the journalism.
On to the crashing kernel. Good luck getting it fixed quickly, what would us geeks do without our slashdot? I for one detest the newspaper, and most journalism, but, with slashdot I get to see both sides of the story (usually), and most of the false "facts" are disclosed a few posts later (if not the next post)
I agree totally... I graduated High School early just to get away from bs like what happened... Now I'm a Systems Administrator for an ISP.. Geeks shall rule the world without violence! (maybe just a little violence? No, no violence! Oh c'mon let me go back in there and face the violence... No it's to violent)

Sarcasm is a wonderful thing, no?

Not to burst your bubble, but Wicca/druidism/paganism has been around much longer than Christianity.
True wicca is neither dark nor mysterious to those who take the time to understand it.
I believe her point in this is that of stereotypes. and stereotypes of any kind are a bad thing (tm)
