No surprise, just a little dissapointment

I'm not terribly surprised to hear about a good algorithm being not quite as good as we expected, but it does dissapoint me a little. Assuming you're not one of the bad guys, who doesn't want to see an uncrackable algorithm emerge?
It was good to see DES last for so long with no real "cracks" that weren't massive brute force. Even today, triple DES looks like it will be pretty strong for a long time.
At least with the openness of the algorithms in question, we'll at least be educated as to how strong they really are, under current technology at least.
1) Microsoft is big 2) Microsoft employs anti-competitive tactics 3) Linux emerges 4) Microsoft is no longer invincible 5) Any linux company that makes money is like Microsoft
Ahh.... if that's the way it goes, then remind me never to try to make any money in the Linux market. I might be accused of trying to get a monopoly.
What exactly is 3D support? Will Nvidia be adding to the contributions of the Mesa folks? Promising 2D support in the form of source code for groups like xfree86 is one thing. In Linux, 3D is a different animal.
I haven't really kept up with the situation, but what is the problem with the current cddb license? I go to their website and from what I can tell, access is always free.

Let me try to understand this:
1) Microsoft is big
2) Microsoft employs anti-competitive tactics
3) Linux emerges
4) Microsoft is no longer invincible
5) Any linux company that makes money is like Microsoft
