I would be interested to know how they would be able to stop "contactless thieves" in this case. It seems to me that scanners would become available for people to walk around zapping people's funds away from them. One nice thing about the tried and true swipecards is that to charge them, it's very much a physical action.
At the very least, the signature process should be retained.
Nevertheless, I encode into flac now, as 1) it sounds much better than vbr mp3 or ogg, and 2) at 20-30MB per song, it really discourages people from downloading songs from me when I tell them how big they are.
Even though the linux version was slow on your machine,(and that's all, as far as we can see here) it will not be forever. If it's released for linux, then it would be a no-brainer to get it working properly.
I have found that cable, while faster, is a dead end, in that even though it is faster, the cable companies don't have the balls to cap the bandwidth, or charge for the bandwidth they provide. The problem is that they can't afford(read: don't have enough bandwidth) to offer 2 Mbit/384 to each paying customer, so they attack people for eating up bandwidth.
DSL customers, on the other hand, who pay for 1.5 down can download a constant stream of data, continuously maxing out their connection, and their ISP(in most cases) will have nothing to say about it, because it really is dedicated bandwidth.
Bear in mind, I have a roommate, which makes a lot of expenses easier.
Rent: $425 Cable: $33 Car: $545 Car ins: $70 LEC: $12 Investment: $250(thinking of raising it) DSL: $35 PCS Phone: $40 CC: $250 Long distance/Electric/Heat/Gas/Water/AC: incuded in rent, or covered by my employer Laptop pymt: $70 Food/gas: $300
This all comes out of $2700 net/month, and what is leftover is currently devoted to paying off some extra debts(CC, Car, laptop), travel, and investment.
Absolutely. I am 100% in agreement with ErMaC. The problem is, it doesn't seem that the US government is interested in a level playing field. They, as far as I have seen, would rather subjectively choose who the bad guys are, and take away everyone's rights to catch them.

Well, it's still compressed, and if I want to reencode it to ogg/mp3/aac/whatever, I still can, without any repeated loss in quality.
The RIAA talks like high school immers? I thought they just acted like children. I didn't know they typed like them.
Damn straight! I wish more states had the focus on freedom than NH has.
Also, this just plain makes sense.

First post, i guess

:)
Or, you could just run it with wine.

That is, in order to catch them.
Sorry.

I have been looking for that kind of ranking for a long time, because wading through search results gets pretty cumbersome, pretty quickly.
I just want my pr0n... uh.. I mean. My information.
It kicks crufty Gnome's tail anyway. It and afterstep(when I'm feeling odd) are my desktops.
Plus, I've always liked higher version numbers
