Logged in just to say that before calling people liars, check your facts.

I was reading a bunch of words before being 2 years old. I was 4 when I got my first computer (a MSX) and learned to create simple programs reading only the BASIC manual... so not impossible at all I'm afraid.

It needs to be put in context. What he meant was: when a company cannot compete (inferior product), they scream at the top of their lungs BUT IT'S OPEN! in order to masquerade their incompetence. He may have a point.

However, and I'd be preaching to the choir, we all know that it doesn't also mean that when a company has an "open" product, it sucks by default. He may have tried to pull this false correlation.
He also said in an earlier paragraph that the Brazillian government is wasting time with open-source, since inovation is in the private industry.

Stupid probably doesn't even know they ripped their sockets implementation from BSD...

    Going a little off-topic here...

I said something like that to my mom... when I was 4 years old.
It was something like "I'm feeling very lonely. - Why? Mom, how can I be sure if what I'm saying is actually what you hearing? How do I know if things even have the same meaning to you and me? It could be pointless to even ask those questions."

I think my brain capacity has declined since THEN :P

Is it dificult to contract AIDS? Now you're getting stupid. A beautiful day, a beautiful girl, nice family etc, she is so serious bla bla bla you are seeing her for 3 months now, you get laid, and the condom blows. But hey, no problem, she's nice, she's not a whore, she couldn't probably have aids, no big deal... till 6 months later when u do your blood test and it hits positive for HIV. And again, as a sidenote, Brazil has the best anti-AIDS propaganda in the whole fscking world. Everyone uses the damn condoms.

There is no risk group when you're talking about AIDS. By the way, how the hell do you think that all ppl who have AIDS were contaminated in the first place? Maybe you're not getting laid too much heheheh :)

You should do better your homework...

Ronald Biggs wasn't sent back to England, because there is no extradition treaty between Brazil and England, and they refuse to sign one...

When international criminals need plastic surgery, they don't go to the surgeon's office, knock on the door and say "hey! how r u doing? My name is Osama and I'm in need of a facelift!", Surgeons who actually know they are international criminals are a few, and that happens everywhere. If you wanna talk about how the criminals get into the country, now yes, it's a diferent story.

I won't even get to the patent stuff, since WTO already agreed with it. (Just as a sidenote, if u consider this as being so wrong, how does it become right just cause you "only threatened to haste the bargain"? Get serious.)

And, some years ago, one could easily buy an identity here in Brazil, cause our information systems were not centralized. In fact, they weren't even informatized, so yes, it was easy, not anymore. But every country has its flaws, like US,where ppl still vote on paper and for that CNN declared a new president 2 or 3 times in a few hours :^O

Bottom line: If all you have to do is spot problems and call things bullshit, that's cause u got nothing to do.

  7. correct me if I'm wrong... on Defining Globalism · · Score: 2, Insightful

Globalization is one of the finest things that can happen to human race, if it's done the right way. It means a world without barriers, but since human stupidity makes ppl try to push their own ideas down other ppl throats, that's what is going to happen. Furthermore, it's interesting how globalization is always shown connected with world economy, instead of being defined as a massive cultural exchange. Of course... the greedy capitalists out there have a focus on this matter just a 'little diferent' than we do :)

  8. WINE Development vs. what we really want on Windows Games On Linux · · Score: 1

As simple as that, what WINE does, in the long run, hurts Linux. But damn, I just cant wait to put my hands on the next version.
Now what Linux really needs is something that shows big companies that "Hey, we are here, we use linux and we will give you loads of money for your games IF i can run then on MY operating system!"
Now i think /. could start a poll here... Did you ever bought a "Linux game"? (like one of those from loki games). My bet is that we're about to have a 90% NO on that.
We have to start the circle of demand/offer here, once we get the ball rolling, no problem. Just my humble thoughts on the subject.
