I ran linux without a swap file on 128 MB of memory a couple of years go. It was an accident, I didn't create a swap partition. I never had a problem (forutnately). Of course, I wasn't doing the heavy duty stuff I am now (scientific computation).
You can distribute the CDs as well. You just have to buy a RHN subscription if you want any updates. This is why (despite the 1 yr free) we're probably going to wipe RHEL 3.0 off our new Dells (which came with it preinstalled) and put FC2 on them.
CDMA is the better technology, and korea uses it extensively as well.
TDMA carriers ran into a lot of bandwidth problems recently. I recommend you read "Telecosm" by George Gilder.
I've used it (on a mac). That just means their fancy software won't install on it.
Of course, the machine I bought my set for runs Linux, and you can't install the software on that, either.
It's just a standard usb mouse and keybord, which nicely takes only one plug instead of two. I recommend it but try it first, especially if you're picky.
Be warned! If you use the NVIDIA binary drivers, they didn't work with FC2-test3 due to the use of the 4k stack option in the kernel. Unless that's changed in the final (I doubt it) you will have to recompile the kernel to use the NVIDIA drivers.
That's all well and good for those of us that know how to do a recompile, but for Joe User it could be a bit of a hang-up.
They're a monopoly which has been deemed parasitic to a capitolist economy (in general, not MS specifically). They've been fined for abusing this, and then to recoup those fines they say they're going to have to raise prices.
They could only raise prices without a substantial decrease in sales as a monopoly, hence they are yet again abusing their position. Thus, they are reperpetrating the very thing that got them fined in the first place.
Maybe you don't know any economics, or maybe you're just an AC troll.
The irony here is palpable. Not that we expected anything more. Aren't there suspicions that their "Linux Kernel Personality" is a direct Linux ripoff as well?
It's really time for one of those projects to die. I'd rather it were GNOME, but I'm sure someone disagrees. KDE is just my preference having used both of them extensively.
Otherwise some kind of merge would be good. It's a pain in the ass to have two toolkits, three sound daemons, etc...
I don't want to start a flamewar but I would like to know if anyone sees a productive resolution or a good way to merge the projects.
some things NEED to be descriminated against. Some don't.. and are wrong to descriminate against.
Maybe in your opinion... but it's just yours. It's this sort of thing that causes wars and bitter arguments. Your ideas about what needs to be discriminated against and mine may differ. Who is to say that either of us is more correct?
Or you could leave the car how it is and let Natural Selection do its thing. While you're at it take the warning labels off of obviously dangerous items.
See slashdot story here
That's a fantastic analogy. Mod parent up!
You mean they couldn't care less?
I don't leave my PC in such an insecure position as I did my DVDs. With my new experience I won't be doing that, either.
Now that I've had all of my DVDs stolen (recently) I rip every one I buy as soon as I get home so that if it happens again I'm not so screwed.
I have modpoints, too bad I can't mod comments to my own post. This would get a +1 informative!
Oh man the typos are killing me... should have previewed.

We opted to try RHEL, and I must say I'm somewhat disappointed.
Or maybe it's my imagination.

As you noted my point was simply to warn people before they switched blindly that their 3D acceleration might not work for a little while.

Use freenet... Oh wait it's unusable.

HAHAHAHAHA.
I expect it was found to be largely infeasible.

Careful, someone might take you seriously...
I wish I had saved some of my mod points from earlier. Mod parent up! And I'm defeated by the lameness filter :-/
