Alright, so let's accept the capitalist-pig view that war is all about feeding the money machine. How close (or how far) are we to breaking even on money spent on Iraq? How much is the federal deficit now? How much have gasoline prices changed, *and in what direction*? How much has consumer confidence and employee satisfaction improved (or worsened)?
It's not about making money for America or for Americans. It's about enriching the elite. Concentrating wealth and power in the hands of the few.
"A lot of conservatives who voted had 1 single issue. Abortion, same sex marriage,t-ism, the childen, the church told them too, etc. Logic and intelligence have no effect on these people."
A lot of liberals who voted had 1 single issue, too. Abortion, same sex marriage,t-ism, the childen (whatever the hell that means), the church of anti-religion told them too, etc. Logic and intelligence have no effect on these people, either.
And on this point, you can thank big media. They can't get it through their thick skulls that exit polls do not an election decide. They were wrong in 2000 and they were wrong again this year. I don't think the American public is clamoring to know by 10pm eastern who the president is. Then again, maybe we are. We have become a society that expects a resolution to everything in one hour (minus commercial time).
Not necessarily -- or at least not for that reason. Remember that this is about as old as a planet can be, as it was formed when the universe was still quite young.
Of course, you're assuming that we really have nailed down the age of the universe. What's to say improved technology won't show us (again) that we've underestimated it?
About two years ago, a company called Airswitch (now Switchpoint) started installing what they call NANs (Neighborhood Area Networks) here in Springville (about 60 miles south of Salt Lake City) and other towns around Provo. It originally cost us $40/month for a 10 Mbps connection with a public IP.
Recently they upgraded the Springville and American Fork NANs to 100 Mbps (yes, fast ethernet), but they reconfigured the NAN so everyone has a local IP. To get a public IP now, it's an additional $50/month (grr!). They are now charging an additional $100 if you have more than 500 meg per day on average go through their internet gateway in any seven day period. It also costs $8/month for each entry in their DNS and the fees are just piling up. It's a really nice service, but I think they're finding out that they can't be competitive with DSL and ISDN with such an expensive infrastructure.
At any rate, Switchpoint has decided to start selling franchises so they don't have to pay the cost of installing all the fiber, etc. NANs for Denver, Dallas, Portland and Las Vegas are currently being designed for rollout. Hopefully they won't go under before they can expand some more and at least provide all you/.ers out there with some good broadband.

Yes, but where did Pakistan get it's nuke technology? China was the root of the problem.
