    I don't think they would take away the SYSV init messages, or the debian startup messges (whatever thats called).
    Those are totally separate from the kernel messages that are spewed.

    Previously, resiserfs told you 'Journaling sponsored by MP3.com' and "[something] about SUSE'. More recent version don't do this, apparently.

    I could not agree more. Anyone that hasn't perceived that Microsoft 'FUCKING SUCKS' has essentially failed what should be an elemental test of natural selection.

    I don't know - some of them are okay...
    the way they pretended to invent the optical mouse last year ws pretty shitty, but typical.
    Also, the cheap plastic that thing was made out of was pretty laughable (but not for $50 bucks, thats more depressing).
    Anyway, I think Micron was being punished a few years ago when I obtained my PC. The intellimouse I have was made in Mexico, rather than various the Asian locations my father and brother's mice originate from.
    And, my mouse has this different wheel configuration that rubs against the body of the mouse and SUCKS; I had to trim it with an exacto blade. It still barely moves. The imps2 driver hates it. I hate it.

    and vice versa - once people port to os 10, they can go to linux with not too much more effort, relatively.
    Also, one an app is ported to Linux Os 10 can follow ! this is going to be good, I hope. I think there will be a bit of Linux>0S 10 ports, not only the other direction. Linux currently is accruing much more crediblity in the business world than Macintoshes have had, because of the unix background for linux, and its stability and no nosense attitude. Also, having a user base that exceeds Apple helps now, also...

    Well, thats nice - but I have to say KDE and Gnome have never caused problems for me like Windows has. Also, when you do your creative work at home, why would you want to be subjected to Windows? Linux is much better usited to editing digital audio than windows - if the software existed, and that is what we are trying to change. there certainly is nothing about DOS that makes it better for this. SGI has switched to Linux from IRIX - and there is a version of Maya available now for Linux. How long do you think video editing will be a problem? how about all the custom video editing sysatems based on BSD (I know thats 'work', but...) There is no such thing as a 'server' os or a 'desktop' os. there are only desktop applications and server applications. Microsfof has nothing to do with it. Microsoft developing for Linux would do nothing until Linux was crammed down their throats like every MS product. people do not use microsoft products by cohice : 90% of the users would use whatever is on their computer when they turn it on because they are clueless.

    Well, lets see... this could challenge your assumptions to be exposed to the reality of people removed from your narrow viewpoints, but here we go: I am 1> not broke 2> have a TNT2, not super old but plenty fine for 1600x1200 2d display (also well supported by Nvidia themselves) 3> I do not have windows installed 4> i don't have time to play games 5> My hardware is three years old, but since the most demanding program I use is the gimp or maybe gcc, that is okay with me...     excfept that even with drivers that are just fine, getting them to work with Mr. easy-123 -don't tell you anything about what the fuck-is really-going-on with -your-computer operating system doesn't always work, and without any other little check boxes to click you are just fucked.

    Also, i have never written my own device driver, but have used linux for years! Woah!!!

    Soon or later, you will stop trolling.
