  1. I like this... Especially your second suggestion. But is there a way to do it that's legal, but only without net neutrality?

Not to worry- I think the mega-corps are working on it. That way they can flip a switch and make anyone they don't like an instant pariah. It'll take implanting locator chips into every living human being, but I'm sure they're working on that too.

  2. "We Are Disappointed"

Yes, I'm sure this tepid statement will convince the international mega-conglomerates to cancel their plans for world domination in order to avoid hurting the feelings of these tech companies.

    7:45pm, 8Mb download speed
7:47pm, 0.003Mb download speed ...and so on. Drive his corrupt ass crazy, and make sure you fuck with his phone.

And better than that would be to make him a walking dead zone, so that the minute he walks into a Starbucks, everybody's speed drops to a crawl. He leaves, the speed goes back up.

Make him like Typhoid Mary for bandwidth- a mobile dead zone that no one wants to be near.

"How do Slashdot readers feel about project management for software teams?"

Project management for software teams is JUST like everything else- there's good and there's bad.

I've seen good PMs keep a team focused, keep friction down, and step in to resolve all sorts of problems that cropped up. These PMs were invaluable and their effect on the software teams was positive, sometimes overwhelmingly positive.

On the other hand, I've seen shitty PMs wreck software teams that were previously functioning well,. I've seen them increase strife and uncertainty, or generally just fuck shit up (for want of a better term). Their effect on teams were miserable and destructive in the extreme.

I mean, hello? It's this way in every field. There are good bakers and bad bakers, skilled dentists and incompetent dentists, honest police officers and tyrant police officers, great mechanics and shitty mechanics...it's this way in every field or practice or endeavor known to man. Why should program management be any different?

This is something I've wondered about- does it work both ways? My MIL speaks Chinese, Vietnamese, and Khmer (Cambodian)...could she speak Vietnamese into the phone so it could go back and forth? Would we need two phones, mine set to take input in English and output Vietnamese, and hers set to take input in Vietnamese and output English?

I can speak English into an ipad and have it read the Vietnamese translation out loud to her, but going back and forth never really seemed to work correctly.
