I had a rather witty post ready with ASCII art with the words, "must kill president" hidden in the image....but/. won't let you post ASCII art. Gets this message: Lameness filter encountered. Post aborted.
There is another reason to buy the high-end CPU that I haven't seen listed. If you are going to own the computer for 3+ years you'll get more milage out of that faster CPU....typing this on a three year old 233.
The article doesn't that they get real-time pictures, but assuming that they do, they should give it a polarity so that they can manipulate which direction the camera's looking using magnets.
If we create self-replicating nanobots we may have more serious problems than grey goo. Anything that has the ability to breed, has the ability to evolve due to random influences. If a nanobot mutates and that mutation allows it to breed faster/with less resources/etc we may have an unexpected lifeform on our hands...including one that has never heard of Asimov.

Just think, if we could get each box sold to come with Folding@Home pre-loaded. This would have a huge benefit to the scientific community, and make the manufactors look pretty good as well.

It strikes me that the SUV retailer is going to have insurance against this kind of event, so they aren't hurt too bad (other than missing a week's worth of sales). The maker of the SUV's actually benefits because those SUV's were effectively "bought" by the insurance company. The retailer then put in an order for the replacements. The only person who was clearly hurt here is the insurance company....and who gives money to insurance companies? We do. Either directly, or through higher prices charged by the car dealers when we go to buy a car.
The action of changing an organism in an ecosystem affects the entire ecosystem. It's the same as the analogy of the ol' butterfly flapping its wings in SoCal and causing tsunamis in Japan.
I've never heard that analogy of chaos theory before. If the butterfly can create oceanic earthquakes, perhaps it can cause Microsoft to open their source?
In other news, all employees of Xbox Technologies were found dead this morning. It seems that during a all-hands strategy meeting was held in a conference room which had a gas leak. Detectives are still puzzeled how the sales people who were teleconfrencing were also killed by the gas leak.
I think the Seller's agent is ripe for revolution. Does the Seller's agent do anything for you other than suggest a selling price, and get you listed in your local MLS? For that they charge you 3% of the sale price??? I would think that a company who does nothing more than list you in MLS could charge a flat $500 fee and make a killing. I've thought seriously about starting an internet company to do exactly this....please, beat me to the punch.
IMHO it doesn't matter one ounce if Napster increases CD sales. The fact of the matter is there is a revolution afoot. Any digital medium can and will be traded on the internet, despite all means to suppress it (CSS, SDMI, etc). The old economy companies are just trying to hang on to the way they've done business for the last 50 years.
I honestly believe that the media companies realize this and are suing to slow everyone else down until they can rework their business stratedgy (God, I hope that's true).
The game is almost over. Adapt or die. In ten years CD sales will be zero.
Thanks for all of your help, the Lunchbox ATX is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. Didn't know they existed. If there weren't so expen$ive I'd get one for LAN parties.:)
Multicasting is designed to require very little hardware. I doubt that you'll be able to put much of a strain on your equipment at all. Now, Seti@home is a different story....

This adds up to being killed a lot in Unreal Tourneyment.
