  1. Just looking at time frames with the internet gaining wide spread popularity, faster bandwidth, search engines, and all that - porn became much more accessible in the late 90's. Just thinking, that kinda cuts down on the need for a guy somewhat to need a girl if he has a hand and much easier instant gratification. There are studies that show this as a result and effect of the porn industry. Not judging right or wrong - just stating that a few percentage points could definitely be caused by this especially noting the time frames of the studies.

The telephone was just an example which has made communication on a global scale in a timely manner doable. How many weather stations did the US have in 1880? At which point did we have enough data points where we can honestly compare to today? 1890? 1920? 1940?

Communication idiot - they'd have to actually contact weather centers across the globe to get temperatures. Yeah they could be use log books, but consolidating that kind of stuff would be a mess on a global scale unlike today. Don't be an ass.

Is it just me that wonders how accurate NASA's global temperature records were in 1880?? I can see them saying it goes back as far as we have accurate records to ___, but 1880? I can't imagine how accurate this could have been - I mean the phone wasn't invented until 1876.

I know, right???? The same goes for any restaurant though. My 8 year old wanted to go there for his birthday, what kid wants to go to Red Lobster for his birthday??

Can't exactly bring the console to Red Lobster, but you can bring the phone. It's not really about what's a better platform - it's what's available when kids have time to fill or be entertained. This is a dumb post...

  11. Title to enrage readers?? on US No-Fly List Uses 'Predictive Judgement' Instead of Hard Evidence · · Score: 1

Oh come on - " predictive judgment"? They do that when they don't let you on with a gun, a knife, or a bomb in your underwear. They pre-judge you're going to do something harmful based on what you are carrying. There's nothing wrong with "predictive judgement" - you walk down the street towards my son's school with an assault rifle, I'm going to judge what your intentions are. The better question is if the judgement is made reasonably or not based on the information to go off of. I'll grant you the government can be nuts, but the title of "predictive judgment" is simply used to gain inflamed readers without noting that there's nothing wrong with predictive judgment and it's used all of the time and generally we're ok with it (we just don't use that term).
