  1. OH really on Apples Are For Grannies? · · Score: 1

So all those young people I see using Macs in most of the TV Shows are really over 55. Man I have to find out who their plastic surgeon is :) My son is a Mac user he's under 55 I'm a Mac user over 55 who was frustrated by having to spend so much time just trying to get my PC to work. I just wanted something to use when I wanted to use it and not worry about why the damn thing won't boot or trying to find the latest drivers for my hardware etc. My other son uses a Mac as does his wife and my wife. Since two of us are over 55 and 4 of us are under 55 this survey says 1/3 of the Mac users are over 55 :) Isn't it great the surveys are so flexible.

This shows how much you really know about OSS. You can charge for OSS you just have to supply the source. Redhat seems to be one of the few Computer companies turning a profit.

I just can't believe that OSS brought down the dot coms I seem to think it was poor capitalist planning that did that. Lack of a good business plan? Gee if companies didn't have to pay MS every year to retrain MS supporters on how to click a mouse (MCSE) or buy new 500 gig hz machines to run the latetest MS OS. Oh and by the way if your OS is over five years old we aren't going to support it. Maybe there would be money to hire programmers and tech support people.

Yes I am unemployed but it has nothing to do with OSS. If fact most of the jobs I'm seeing are for MS Windows types. But I don't the requirments for the jobs. (Masters or PHD, PHP, Sap, must have experience on spicific software that I've never heard of. and be willing to do that all for 24K a year.) Seems to me anyone with a PHD wouldn't be working for 24K a year. But I guess OSS has effected the other industries such as Health Care also.

Go eat your fish eggs capitalist.

  3. Re:Employment? on Talk To an Astute IT Industry Observer · · Score: 1

I worked in Tampa, Fl. (unemployed now) the over qualified is not just IT. I belong to an organization here in Tampa for Professionals out of work. And our membership grows by at least 5 or 10 each week and of the 150 to 200 that attend the weekly meetings there is I would guess only a handfull that are under 40. I don't know if that is because only the over 40 attend the meetings or not. We have almost 1000 members up from 11 members in April when the group was founded.
